Inspiration of our Roleplay Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – is an ambitious project that started all the way back in 2004, when Red Army started a mod that implemented a resurgent Russian Federation into the universe of Command and Conquer Generals. After a series of leadership changes first to Grazor, then to Creator, the mod saw its first release in 2006. However, the project soon fell into a lengthy hiatus and was subsequently adopted and rebooted by The Hunter of Shockwave-fame in 2008. Development was moved to what was then known as E-Studios where The Hunter and his team started to overhaul the project from the ground up, extensively redesigning the initially imbalanced and somewhat incoherent Russian faction both visually and technically. The project saw its first release under the new management, labeled Rise of the Reds 1.0 SWR Edition, in December 2008, released a follow-up instalment called version 1.5 in 2009 and gained further prominence after a merger with Sir Maddoc’s mod Rise of Europe, leading to the planned inclusion of the European Continental Alliance as a second fully unique faction. Soon after the release, the development team relocated to its own independent forum at SWR Productions Forum where The Rise of the Reds Forum along with the team's other projects has remained ever since. The most recent version 1.8 was released in December 2012 and added the proud and pragmatic European Continental Alliance, a faction that takes defensive tactics to an extreme in order to rule the battlefield with powerful long range artillery and defy any enemy assault by means of impenetrable fortifications. Man the defences with a wide selection of rugged, well-trained infantry units, strike terror into the hearts of enemy vehicle crews with fearsome Harrier VTOLs and secure your victory with the indomitable Manticore super-heavy tank. The next version 1.85 will add a number of smaller features and take into account the reactions and experiences that spawned out of the previous release as well as new content for all factions. Beyond that, version 2.0 will let choose between 5x3 generals that further capitalise on the tactical themes of the factions. Unlike Zero Hour where generals were chosen during the match setup, ROTR's sub-factions will be chosen in-game at the very start of the battle, as it was originally intended in the unreleased beta version of Generals. Thus, vanilla factions in the original Zero Hour sense will no longer be present in the 2.0 version. Additional features including faction-specific naval units (Navy is already present as of 1.7), two story-driven campaigns and a game mode akin to Zero Hour’s Generals Challenge will also be added along the way. There are five Official Factions in the game :-The Russian Federation (or Russia for short) is a steamroller type faction that keeps the enemy occupied with decent, affordable infantry units early on while building up the economy to field an assault force of strong armored vehicles and helicopters to deliver a crushing blow. They excel at brute force assaults, but tend to be unsubtle and direct to a fault. Their sub-factions are Rapid Deployment, which capitalizes on fast expansion using helicopters and elite infantry, Advanced Weapons, which can utilize more exotic Tesla and railgun technologies and Tactical Ballistics with a great variety of long-range bombardment weaponry. The European Continental Alliance (ECA) is a very defensive faction. The Europeans are excellent at holding ground, letting the enemy exhaust himself trying to break through their defenses, then mount a decisive counter-attack using powerful experimental weapon systems. What they lack in air assets, they compensate with unrivaled long range artillery and area denial weapons. Their sub-factions are Royal Guard, which takes their defensive capabilities to an extreme, Mechanized Assault which takes the fight forward with a combination of mobile infantry and fast vehicles and Fire Support which has a greater arsenal of artillery and close air support at their disposal. The United States of America (USA) are a generalist faction with a vast selection of versatile infantry, vehicles, air units and support assets, including several unmanned weapon systems. Their tactics rely heavily on mobility and precision and their 'jack of all trades' nature allows them to implement any kind of tactic, whether defensive or offensive, infantry-, vehicle-, or air-heavy. On the negative side, their units, while reliable, tend to be on the expensive side and the sheer variety of options requires good planning to be fully exploited. Their sub-factions are Special Forces, which put additional emphasis on strong, highly mobile infantry units, Tank Command, which uses a wider range of armored vehicles and Air Force with advanced planes and helicopters. The Global Liberation Army (GLA) is very different in ROTR, acting less like a conventional field army and even more like the covert, micro-intensive guerrilla faction they were intended to be. GLA forces tend to be cheap and weak at first, but a variety of upgrades as well as the combined effects of veterancy and salvage make them very potent if you can keep them alive long enough. To that end, the GLA relies on stealth and excellent mobility. Their sub-factions are Bio Command which uses a number of biological and chemical weapons to overwhelm enemies, Terror Cell which combines stealthy hit and run tactics with powerful explosive suicide attacks and Warlord, which capitalizes on a stronger income and foregoes subtlety in favor of brute force. The People's Republic of China (PRC or China for short) is a spammer type faction that is designed to over-run the enemy with hordes of individually weak, expendable units that can be fielded in large numbers. They benefit from a number of offensive buffs and a stunning arsenal of special effect weaponry to confound and destroy the enemy. Their sub-factions are Red Army, which takes the hoarding of infantry and tanks to a maximum, Special Weapons which applies secondary effects such as napalm, EMP and radiation to many of their weapons and Secret Police, which seeks to keep a constant eye on the enemy while using a wide variety of electronic countermeasures to stop enemy forces dead in their tracks. Your Roleplay Accounts Your account will be based on an RP Character who will be a general, News Reporter and whatever with a RP name attached to it. By default you will have one army under the command of one of your characters. This character which has an army under his command is called an Army General. This Character Biography will have the " Army General" label. You can only participate in Battles using the General character and your other characters cannot be used in Battle Roleplaying. The details of your army has to be posted in your faction command center. You can only control your own army and no one else's. Exceptions are 1) If the other members give you their armies willingly as an alliance or 2) The opposing player allows you to control the fate of his army to a certain extent. You can maximum have Three Active characters/RP Accounts at one time. However, you will only have One army under your command under your Army General Biography. The Army General Character can be your "First Biography", "Second Biography" or "Third Biography". It is your choice which character you want to make a General. All your Three Characters must be in the Same Faction, they cannot be in different factions unless approved by an admin. When your Biography is approved, it will get the respective Biography Labels. Here is an example :- First Bio ! : John MillerSecond Bio ! Army General : David FoxThird Bio ! : Steven RaymondAs you can see above, the Army General character is David Fox, so the roleplayer who controls that character will participate in Battle Roleplaying using that character only who will represent his army. Changing CharactersIf you want to change your character, you must pm an admin : The Warzone with the intention to change your account. After that you will make a new account and post an RP Application. Your old account will get archived and you won't be able to use it anymore. This is done to preserve the identities of RP Characters and this means that while you can have Infinite RP characters, you can only have three active RP Characters at one time. You will then have to give your Old Account's RP character a suitable conclusion like Retirement, Death, Going Missing In Action, etc. However please note that if you kill your character, you will not be able to use it again in any circumstances. (No Time Travelling or Mumbo-Jumbo to negate this) If you wish to bring back a character that you used earlier, you will have to remove one character from your Three Characters list and do the above ^. After that you must make a thread announcing the character's return. Once you drop a character, you cannot use it again till one month has passed. This has been done so that the Three characters limit is not bypassed. Character NamesYou cannot use an RP Name which has already been used. You can however change a few words if you want to get the near about same name. For Example if "Sam Michael" is taken, then you can make it "Sam Miller". For the list of RP Character Names already taken, please check out the Member ListWhen you make an Accounts for extra characters, it is advisable that you put your name and "Account Number" in your Login Username. For Example :- First Account/Biography : Login Username : @rohan Second Account/Biography : Login Username : @rohan2 Third Account/Biography : Login Username : @rohan3 If your accounts get archived, then you will continue the number sequence :- Fourth Account : Login Username : @rohan4 Fifth Account : Login Username : @rohan5 And so on.

What to do Once you are accepted by a Faction So, after your application for a faction has been accepted, You will enter the territory of your respective faction and lead it to victory. In this forum, there are private boards for each faction, i.e; USA, SAP, GLA, ECA, China and Russia in the War Strategies Forum. Below are the links to the Forums :- United States Of America Command CentrePeople's Republic Of China Command CentreGlobal Liberation Army Command CentreRussian Federation Command CentreEuropean Continental Alliance Command CentreSouth American Pact Command CentreHere's a sneak peek to the Command Center :- You will only be able to access the Sub-forum of the faction you are currently placed in. In these faction boards, members can discuss the war strategies, give reports, discuss the state of your organisation and even do random chat (As long as it is related to the RP). It is the duty of the Faction leader to ensure that his faction sub-forum is active and members keep on making strategies and discussions. In order to do so, it's important for the Faction Leader to communicate with all his members equally. It's also important for members of a faction to stay active and post in the faction forum. If you stay inactive then it could only mean two things : 1) You are a Liability and 2) You are a Spy. In both cases, the faction leader could kick you out of their faction. So keep your faction forum active and achieve victory.

The Role Play World Map The World Map can be viewed in the World Map ForumAll Discussions concerning the World Map go to World Map Discussion ForumThe World Map is a map which shows the extent of territories under the control of Russia (Purple), USA (Blue), ECA (Yellow), GLA (Green), China (Red) and SAP (Green). Territories not under the control of any faction are generally Neutral (White). Factions gain and lose territory based on the outcome of Battles. When Territory Battles are held, The faction which wins the Battle conquers that territory and it falls under their control. Generally, if a Nuke or Anthrax bomb is dropped on a certain area of territory, then that territory becomes a No-zone area and Neutral. This territory cannot be used for mobilization or movement of Troops.

Faction Deals From now on, Faction Deals made over Skype or any other platform will no longer be accepted and will be voided. Faction Deals have to be made on the Forum itself in order to be considered valid. If you wish to make deals with other faction Members, please use the Faction Communication Base for this purpose. An alternate way to make secret deals is to use PM's on the forum (Where you need to put a Staff Member as a recipient). This is to keep track of the deals made on the forum so that they can be used as evidence to support the deal taking place.

Basic Battle Rules These are the starting rules, most important when it comes to battles :- 1 : Before you do anything in public forum, make sure you make a thread in your faction forum. Write the troops you'll use, what is your objective, and what plan of attack do you have (Note that you don't have to stick to the plan of attack during battle). You must also write the number of units you'll use (Since your army will have a fixed unit limit, you can't go beyond that unless the Faction Leader or another General agrees to join forces with you/Give you more units). Write this thread at least a day or two before you attack (Depending on how complicated the operation is, you may need more or less time to prepare). The faction leader must approve your operation before you can start it. 2: Be Realistic: For example, the chances of transporting hundreds of units in the middle of enemy territory without being discovered are very, very slim (if you don't want to say; impossible ). 3 : When the battle starts, remember that you only control your own units and army. Don't narrate actions of your enemy's troops, or neutral units, unless you agreed with your opponent OOCly on what they'll do and/or what the result of that will be. 4 : Don't write the result of a fight without talking to your opponent OOCly. It would be ideal if each player can narrate his own losses. Numbers and skill of the troops are the most important factor in deciding who suffers how much losses, but in case you don't have the numbers, you might win if you use a Superweapon or General Point Attack. 5: Both you and your opponent must agree on the results of each fight. The participants in the battle must make a joint PM to an admin and then tell who is the victor (This is done as proof of victory). If you can't agree on who would win, then you must contact an admin to determine the winner. The word of the admin is final. Note : OOCly means communicating outside of the RP Threads either in the Forums or through Skype.

Universal Roleplay Time Limit The Time Limit for a member to respond to a Battle, World Event, Diplomacy Meeting or a Council of War is One Week or Seven Days. For example, If player A (Faction in Waiting Member) has posted a battlepost and if the opposing faction member, i.e; Player B (Inactive Faction Member) has spent over a week in replying to or not responding at all then in the final decision it will be considered an automatic surrender and Player A's Faction will win the Battle. After One Week or Seven Days has passed, and the member in waiting has not got a counter-reply then he must PM an admin : The Warzone and the Admin will ask the Faction Leader of the Opposing Faction to respond in the inactive member's place. If the Faction Leader does not agree in posting, then the whole thing (Battle, Diplomacy, etc) will go in favor of the Faction in Waiting. Faction in Waiting Member : This refers to the player who has responded but is waiting for a counter-reply by the other Faction member. Inactive Faction Member : This refers to the player who has gone inactive and has not responded with a Counter-reply. This Rule applies in Civil Wars as even if the sub-factions concerned are from the same nation, they are still two different factions. For example, America Fights Canada, they are two different sub-factions under one Nation : USA (United States Of America). Where the Time Limit Rule does not apply :-This Rule does not apply at In-Faction Discussions. For example, a discussion between Russian Players in the Russian Private Board has no Time Limit. This Rule will not apply if the two members of the opposing factions are in contact with each other and tell when they will post or if they will be delayed. For example, Player B tells Player A that he is busy with Exams and will reply after a week, Player B tells Player A that it will take him more than a week from Player A's post to prepare the RP Material, etc. This rule only applies if Player B disappears completely without a Trace and does not inform anyone for more than a week. All final decisions regarding the Time Limit will be decided by the admin.

Taking Control of Neutral Territories, Sub-Factions and Civil War Taking Control of Neutral Territories If you wish to take control of a neutral Territory, then first you must be a general of a major faction. After that you must make an announcement declaring your advance on the neuteral territory in your Faction Announcement Board . After that a faction with the nearest presence or intentions to stop you will make a counter-announcement in their faction Board. (Previous announcement link must be added). After that the Conquering General will make the Battle Thread in the Battle Section. Thread title could be anything but it must include the area's name included. After that the opposing general will come in and post a counter-reply and it will go on until a victor is decided. Whichever General wins, the respective faction will gain that territory under their control and the World Map will be updated accordingly. The winning General will then :- A) Make a faction announcement showcasing his Victory. (The losing General may also make announcement). Make a territory thread in his Faction Board and manage it with daily reports going to the Faction Leader. (Multi-posting is allowed). Sub-Factions Generals who lead sub-factions under the control of the main faction will make a thread in their main Faction Board and manage their faction in that thread (Multi-posting is again allowed). The Sub-Faction would be completely independent, but it's leader has to follow the main Faction Leader's orders but he could deny it also. In that case, the Main Faction Leader must use Diplomacy to ensure that a Civil War doesn't break out. Diplomacy :-In case the Main Faction Leader and Sub-Faction Leader do not agree with each other, then there will first be a Faction Announcement to announce a diplomacy meeting. The Meeting Conference will be held In the Leader Discussion Board (Sub-faction Leader will create Thread), where the Main and Sub leaders will discuss diplomacy and hear the inputs of other Faction Leaders to resolve the conflict. Civil War This would generally be the Last Case Scenario to prevent complications in our RP. This is to prevent :- A) Formation of many factions which causes management problems. Removal of these sub-factions from the RP. A sub-faction general must have the support of at least two allied faction generals / Another Faction Leader's Support to start a Civil War. The two allied generals will become a part of that sub-faction.
If a Civil War Breaks out, then it must be announced in the World Events Board by a thread by the Sub-Faction Leader. All counter-Announcements and announcements must be posted in that thread for consistency. The Battle will be held in the Battles SectionFor the Duration of the Civil War, a separate Temporary Faction section will be made for the Sub-Faction where all discussions will take place. The Sub-Faction Board will be placed in the Civil War Command CentrePossible Win/Loss Scenarios :-If the Sub-Faction wins, then it can choose to either stay with the main faction and overthrow it . Essentially the Sub-Faction Leader becomes the Main Faction Leader or it might join another faction. The temporary Section contents will be merged/Archived in the main Faction's Board. If the Sub-Faction loses, it will became a part of the main Faction and will not be able to cause any more civil wars, i.e; the main faction Leader's command will be absolute.

Conflict Resolution 1) It is encouraged that everyone try to resolve their conflict between themselves, outside of the thread (On Skype or any Instant Messenger). If the conflict cannot be resolved between the two participants, only then should one make a Conflict Resolution Thread. The Conflict Resolution thread has to be posted in the Roleplay Moderation Section. 2) When posting in the conflict resolution thread, the following information must be provided :- A) The link to the post in question. A detailed explanation of the problem. C) Each participant's viewpoint on the conflict in question. This will require each participant to post in the conflict thread. 3) The Participants must include all the relevant information in one post only. The discussion to resolve the problem from then on will be taken by the Faction Leaders and Admins. 4) In the mention section you must mention the admins, your faction leaders and the opposing member. 5) Both Parties must give their explanations before the discussion to solve the issue starts. 6) If the issue is concerned with Faction Leaders, then they can discuss the issue from the conflict posts to resolve it. 7) The Final Decision will be taken by the Faction Leaders in agreement. If they cannot come to an agreement, the decision of an Admin will be final. 8) Party B here refers to all those participants who are on the opposite end of the one who raised the issue. 9) The Templates to be used :- Party A (Who raises the issue)Link to The Post:
Issue:
Your Reasoning of the Issue:
Mentions : Party B (The one who is on the opposite end of the issue)Your Counter Reasoning of the Issue:
Mentions : Overview :-Basically this means that if someone breaks the rules or balance of the RP, the two participants will discuss the issue and try to resolve it. If the issue gets resolved, i.e; both participants agree then the necessary edits to the RP Posts must be done to solve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then the one who has raised the issue will make a thread (Party A) and fill out the template above ^ . He will then mention the opposing player, his faction leader and the Admins. After this the other participant (Party will fill out the template above ^ and mention the previous player, his faction leader and the Admins. After this, both The Faction Leaders will discuss the issue and try to come to an agreement. If they come to an agreement, what has been agreed upon must be done by the concerned participants. If the Faction Leaders are not able to come to an Agreement, the decision of the Admins will be final.

Overview of Independent Factions
Hello Everyone, today I would like to introduce you to the Independent Factions. Independent Factions are minor factions in our RP which are independent and have no relation to the six major factions in our RP. Those who make an Independent Faction Biography will get their own Password protected Faction Sub-Board here : Independent Command CentreThe Independent Factions have their own nationality so you cannot associate under the banner of the main factions. This means your username color will always remain silver. An example of such an username would be : Edmund WilsonIf you make an Independent Faction, you can't have any characters in the six main factions. All your characters will be present in your Independent Faction. You also cannot have your characters in other Independent factions. As it wouldn't be possible to make usergroups for all of the Independent Factions, all communication with other factions will be done through Private Messages. Private Messages are valid for the Roleplay. Please PM The Warzone and he will set up a PM with the role player you want to have a discussion with. If you have other members of your Independent faction, you can distinguish your faction through your User Title and Signature. It is your responsibility to keep your members informed about Password changes done to the faction board. Rules for Independent FactionsIn order to have an Independent Faction Bio, you must :- 1 - Gain the approval of all Six Faction Leaders and One Admin. 2 - Keep your Independent Faction Active in the RP.
