January 6th, 2047 Darfur Province, Sudan
The order had been given out. General Chen was inspecting his troops one last time before sending them out to battle formations. General Class AAA Xing Chen was to be in charge of Operation Lightning, the massive assault through central Chad. Chad is the one central and single chokepoint from which GLA rebels and arms travel into North Africa. Chad is also the chokepoint that separates the Nigerian Federation from its allies in northeast Africa. General Chen knew that this was the battle that decides who the biggest player in Africa is, the Global Liberation Army, or the Greater Asian People's Alliance. The GLA were aware of this as well, so the border was heavily militarized and fortified. Basic outline of Operation LightningThe original plan involved a massive leaflet drop that demanded the surrender of forces in Chad before the Chinese military machine came with all their might. This initial phase was cancelled by Chen personally, as he knew Chad would be too important for the GLA to allow surrender. He also realised that it could potentially be a trap, and as Chinese forces would move in to accept their surrender, they might be ambushed and destroyed. There would be no warning.1100 Hours January 6th 2047 Chad-Sudanese border At exactly 11:00AM, the radio silence was broken with a single order: "Begin." The ground shuddered with the sounds of a massive artillary barrage. Over five hundred inferno cannons fired at the same time, creating a deafening shockwave that stunned the other side. All the enemy could see was a cloud of smoke that hovered on the horizon, from where the cannons fired their shells. The attack was to stretch along a hundred mile front in central Chad. No less than thirty seconds later, the shells fell unto the heads of the enemy. The shells were mostly incendiary, and used black napalm, that burned hotter and more violently than the classic napalm shells used in the first GLA war. Within minutes, the entire front line was set ablaze. The initial barrage was timed impeccably with the noon sun, which only helped the fires burn hotter and hotter. A massive firestorm erupted. Trenches which soldiers used to protect themselves became their graves as the flames trapped them underneath and burned the alive. Dushka guns caught in the firestorm glowed red with heat, as the burlap on sandbags burst into flames and the red hot sand disintegrated and blew into the air. Wooden structures lasted merely minutes under the barrage as they too went up in black flames and imploded. Concrete bunkers became ovens, and even if the shells did not penetrate the structure completely, people were still cooked to death from the heat. Panic quickly ensued, as soldiers, officers, and civilians alike fled the battlefield in complete and utter chaos. The intense smoke suffocated many, and rose fifty meters into the air, blotting out the sun. The once peaceful landscape was now turned into an apocalyptic nightmare. It was nothing short of hell, exactly how the Chinese intended. The cannons fired relentlessly, with more and more incendiary shells piling on the front lines. With every new barrage, they changed their angle and firepower by a little bit, allowing the wall of flame to slowly creep deeper and deeper into enemy territory. The barrage lasted a gruelling three hours. It went from 11AM to 2PM, the hottest part of the day, with almost 150,000 incendiary shells fired. For the past 3 months, a third of the entire military industrial complex was devoted to making these three hours the most devastating possible, and it did not disappoint. At exactly 1:59PM, the guns fell silent.

Pain: pain and suffering was what was felt at the end of the bombardment. Walls of flame still remained, funnels of fire towered high into the Chadian sky, and citizens suffered from the raging effects of napalm burns upon the body. As many came to the GLA for safety from the hellfire, Omar was nowhere to be seen. Since his arrest, he wouldn't be returning for a long while. He would go underground, and someone else would have to temporarily take the place of the esteemed Grand Warlord. "Warlord, the reports from the Grand Commander of the region have arrived: Chad is being evacuated as we speak. The survivors will be quarantined by Liquidators by the end of the day if we are lucky," the lowly messenger interrupted the thoughts of the caliph, and he turned his head slightly, keeping his face and head hidden behind the turban of which he wore. "And what of my scramblers? Are they functioning?" the Warlord asked. His voice was deep, rolling, and strong for someone of his age. It wasn't raspy and sounding near-dead or monotonous like his mentor, but it was a deep and accented voice. The messenger gulped and nodded in reply. "I will be preparing my forces, but tell the commanders of the region to defend until I arrive," the self-proclaimed prince drew out. Omar would not be please if he returned to find that lowly Chinese pigs had taken his, nay, THEIR land. "Soon, they will be dead, and they won't even know who killed them," the man chuckled as he looked across the computer monitors that always littered Omar's command bunker. January 6, 20471517 Hours
Among the jungles and deserts of the Sudanese and Nigerian borders of Chad, GLA militants waited in trenches. Their job was simplicity in and of itself: keep the Chinese invaders out at all costs. Trenches had been set up at both borders, however the Sudanese border was in greater disarray due to the longevity of the imperialist hell-fire.
Basic machine gun posts had been set up along the trench, covered in camouflage netting and hidden from Chinese spy equipment by GPRS scramblers. The militants were armed with basic AK-74s and RPG-7s, with few vehicles in the area. What was provided as a basic militancy defense was a small company of scorpion tanks and quad cannons, with little else to help defend. Although the drivers were trained in using salvaged parts to repair their vehicles, it was still utilizing whatever scrap they could find. The GLA was ready for a fight, and it would hopefully not be as bloody as they imagined it would be for them.
Soldier Count: 15,000 (give or take) Kalashnikov & RPG-armed militants with 500-800 scorpion tanks and quad cannons split across both fronts Civilian Count: Less than 50 civilians per square kilometer Casualties: [Excluding Civilian] 20,000 deaths, 35,600 injuries
(OOC: And now you understand what I mean by a casualty system. This will be the first battle where this is implemented.)

1600 Hours January 6th 2047 Chadian border The fire burned uncontrollably, spreading around the dry grass, swallowing trees, bushes, trenches, and men. In some places it burned so violently that fire tornados could be seen spouting into the air. The devastating firestorm was allowed to continue for another two hours before the main attack was to begin. The Fourth and Fifth Armored Divisions were the first to engage. They were composed mainly of heat ressistant tanks, tankettes, and armored personnel carriers. The vehicles stormed through the firestorm into the open Chadian plains. Heat-resistant Hopper Tankettes were first to see combat, as they reached the rear defense lines of the Global Liberation Army, out of range of the Inferno cannons. The GLA's entrenched infantry positions posed a threat to the Tankettes, who retreated back into the flames. "Commander, this is Recon-1. Entrenched infantry position to our front. Bring in the dragons!" The ground began shaking, and out of the firestorm came a shenlong. Towering over the GLA entrenchments, it burst onto the scene, firing its deadly dual flamethrowers, loaded with black napalm. They were supported by the smaller Dragon tanks, who mopped up any remaining defensive position untouched by the flame. The hellish inferno extended towards the rear lines, as Shenlongs entered the battlefield, spraying its deadly payload over the beleaguered GLA entrenchments. No one would be spared from hell, not today. The ground was once again turned ablaze, as the firewall pushed forward, deeper and deeper into Chad. The intense heat and smoke could be seen rising from kilometers away, bringing a sense of fear and panic into the hearts of the GLA. General Chen observed this from his headquarters in Sudan. He took out his wallet, and inside, was a picture of General Class AAA Qiang, promoted shortly after his death for his bravery in the Cameroonian war. "I will get my revenge," he thought to himself, "for you, and for everyone who needlessly suffered in the fear toxin attack. All these terrorists will burn in the fires of justice." He looked into the horizon. A huge cloud of black smoke hovered over the battlefield. He gave a satisfied grin, and turned to his second in command. "Send in the cavalry. Begin the second stage." Nuclear battlemasters, gattling tanks, and troop crawlers then made their advance from Sudan. They began to catch up to the Shenlongs. After the inferno came the second stage of the attack: the armored spearhead. Soldier Count: ~32,000 (Two armored divisions), with 44 Shenlongs and 52 Overlord tanks, focused on a 30km front in central Chad Casulties: ~1,800 casualties so far Civilian casulties inflicted: ~1,200

1732 Hours January 6, 2047 Chadian-Sudanese BorderThe Shenlongs continued to push past the first GLA line, taking in the heat and pushing it back to GLA militants. They weren't, however, ready for the massive swaths of GLA vehicles pushing towards them. Scorpion tanks began to push from the front as reinforcements from the southern Sudanese border trench began to flank."Sir, are reinforcements inbound?" a partisan asked his superior, to where the officer, one Thomas Kone, looked to his subordinate and nodded before taking out a map."Alright, listen up, all of you! We have only fifteen minutes, at best, before those Chinese bastards get to our position! We are not entrenching! Rather, we are going to take the fight to them! My fellow officer down from the southern trench is sending reinforcements to flank the enemy, and we have air support coming in from the north with anti-armor capability. Stay on your toes, and remember to hit the armor weak points. Maneuver around the shenlongs and take down their support before taking on the shenlongs! If we can take down their assault before it gets out of hand, then we will have a chance to defend Chad and push the imperialist pigs out!""What about the Overlord tanks?" Thomas turned to his soldiers and looked at him with anger in the eyes."That's what the air support is for you f@#$ing moron!!!" he yelled before knocking the partisan to the ground. "Any other stupid questions?!" he barked, only to receive a unanimous "No sir!""Alright! Be ready!"1743 Hours Operation: Lightning Rod (OOC: See what I did there? )
Nitroglycerin
For over ten minutes, the GLA forces waited. They had gotten the signal that their reinforcements were approaching the zone only three minutes ago, and that they saw the fire cloud. The napalm burned across the fields, being headed on by the approaching metal dragons known as shenlongs. The GLA forces then moved out. Scorpions began driving into the hellfire to get shots at the large, bulky tanks. The first to die or suffer severe injuries were the drivers, whose reckless driving into the flames ended up doing more harm than good, as other crew members had to take their place and drive the tanks through the scorching heat of the napalm. Shots were fired, and dragon tanks exploded, shenlongs stopped in their tracks as their drivers were killed by penetrated rounds.
"How many do you have down?! Three, and rising! But I don't know how much longer we can take! Where's air support?!" drivers screamed into their communications to their commanders. As soon as the response was heard, explosions were heard hitting the ground close by to the scorpions. Many were killed in the ensuing crossfire, but air-support had finally arrived.
(OOC: Don't mind the letters. I needed to find something. Anything.)
"This is Element 1 to ground, we have visual on targets!" Another voice sounded on the communications as GLA interceptors entered the area. Scorpions continued to bound through the hellfire to destroy a good amount of enemies before their demises, but it was just a ploy. Eventually, however, the assault was worn thin. the interceptors had run out of ammunition, but at the reward of many destroyed overlords and shenlongs. The Chinese assault, although thwarted, cost many of the Sudanese defenses. If China sent another wave, not much would stop them from pushing in until further reinforcement came in.
Soldier Count: 15,000 (give or take) with 500-800 Scorpions and Quad Cannons split across both fronts Reinforcement: 22 Aircraft & 2,300 Ground Troops Casualties Inflicted: 7,600 Soldiers, 300 Scorpion Tanks, 5 Interceptors, & 257 Quad Cannons

1921 Hours, January 6th 2047 Eastern Chad The Chinese Army continued their brutal advance into Chad. The central spearhead have created a bulge that extended over 140km into the Chadian savannah. Shenlongs and Dragon Tanks continued to set the battlefield alight, though this strategy was starting to become less effective, as the GLA have started to bring in more vehicles, as well as air support. Excited by the rush of battle, the initial wave of flamethrower tanks have rolled out a bit further than originally planned. This made the vulnerable to air attacks, as the main force of gattling tanks have not yet caught up. "The GLA are putting up a tough resistance!", said an officer, "They have even brought in their makeshift planes." "The main brunt of our armored division should be arriving soon ", replied General Chen, "they should bring enough gattling tanks to deal with this little air threat." He then radio'd his second-in-command, the silent workhorse, General Class AA Huang. "Have a few Twin Fang companies advance across the border. Put them on high alert for cargo planes. Make sure they do not get a chance to drop any fear toxin bombs or anything similar." "Already on it, General," he replied. General Chen reached for his phone and called up a secretary back in Beijing. "We are now deploying our Anti-Air. I need a no-fly zone warning issued over Chad. We will be shooting any and all unidentified planes flying overhead, NO EXCEPTIONS." His radios started to go off. "Sir! Heavy GLA resistance on Hill Blue5, GLA aircraft just destroyed two of our ShenLong tanks!" "GLA have brought in heavy armor! We cannot advance further!" The Red Army General was reluctant, but then took out his speaker, and radio'd the spearheading regiments, "Stop your advance. The GLA have brought in their reinforcements. Wait for the rest of our armored divisions to reinforce." With that, the advance ground down to a halt, as the Chinese began to dig in. They are to stay put and resume their advance the next day. With the well known efficiency and swiftness of China's mighty industrial complex, the men began to set up defenses. Gattling cannons were the first things to be set up, and the men set their first priority to take down big lumbering cargo jets, as was the case with the Twin Fangs when they came. Each and every soldier involved in this operation was issued a gas mask, and a 'fear-toxin warning meter', a small device developed back in China using collected samples from the sites of previous GLA fear toxin attacks. It also warns against anthrax. The Chinese Chairman was determined to not repeat the same mistakes of Cameroon. Soldier Count: ~30,000 (The same two armored divisions), with 31 operational Shenlongs, and 45 operational Overlords Casulties: ~4,000 casualties so far Civilian casulties inflicted: ~1,200

2219 HoursJanuary 6, 2047Eastern ChadOperation NitroglycerinThe fires had continued to burn for the entire day, but were finally dying down as the night approached. The forests of Chad were being desolated, but GLA forces were sending in helicopters to drown the afflicted areas in sand. Marksmen kept an eye on the Chinese positions that had been set up, and interceptors patrolled No-Man's-Land from the skies as GLA soldiers sat behind sandbags and underneath camo-netting. The area sat quiet, undisturbed. But near one-such Chinese outpost, along with many others along eastern Chad, highly-trained well-armed forces were preparing for an ambush. As they did though, a dark man stood with a dark purpose. "My Warlord," one of the Partisans saluted the man, who turned with a smirk. "What is it?" he asked. "Our forces are ready to begin whenever you give the word," he replied. The man smiled as he looked out to the area beyond. He then took out a walkie talkie and pressed the button. "Begin Operation Nitroglycerin!" he yelled. He then stepped out the the tunnel and readied his MP5SD sub-machine gun as light armored vehicles, rifle and RPG-armed infantry, and tank destroyers from tunnels across the base. "Now they see me; now they're dead..." the aged Libyan assassin stated as he went to join the fray of the ambush. Although the brunt of the destructive force would be behind the tank destroyers, the armored vehicles that Cobra Cell had brought to the table were specially-designed, highly mobile vehicles with light tank turrets. These "cobra tanks" were capable of outmaneuvering any other tank in the world. They sacrificed firepower for maneuverability, but were meant only for a distraction. As soon as Chinese forces even glanced what was going on, the ambush had already begun destroying gattling cannons all along the front. The ammunition was high explosive for all counts, and as Chinese pilots scrambled to the heavy armor, Prince Kassad gave the order for the camouflaged tank destroyers to open fire. High-explosives shells ruptured Shenlong napalm containers, exploded Overlord turrets, and laid suppressing fire along the Chinese bases. It was chaos incarnate as GLA snipers killed soldiers scrambling for cover. RPGs destroyed defensive areas, and a great skirmish began to take shape. Rocket buggies began rolling out of the tunnels as soon as the main defense was dealt with and began moving into position to fire against the Chinese inferno cannons. When they fired, it explosions ran rampant as the howitzers were torn apart. All across the front, similar events were taking place. China was losing its hold. Soldier Count: 12,500 (give or take) soldiers, 300-400 "scorpion" armored vehicles, 500 "quad cannon" aircraft/infantry vehicles Reinforcement: 34 Aircraft, 4,560 soldiers, 300 "cobra" armored vehicles, 125 "chameleon" tank destroyers, 55 rocket buggies Casualties Suffered: 2,500 soldiers, 100-200 scorpion & quad cannon vehicles Casualties Inflicted: 10,000 (give or take) soldiers, 5,000 (give or take) hopper tankettes, 3,000 (give or take) "dragon tank" flame tanks, 13 ZTZ-202 "shenlong" heavy flame tanks, 20 (give or take) ZTZ-200 "overlord" heavy tanks (OOC: I got REALLY lucky with this ambush. If edits are required, I am willing to do so)

0800 Hours, January 7th 2046 Eastern Chad
"Impossible, impossible!" cried General Chen, "How could our best forces be defeated so easily?" He paced back and forth from his HQ as reports of retreats and defeats continued to stream in from communications. "I knew it! I knew this would happen! Our forces are too few in number, and our men need more morale. We should have sent in the Red Guard." The co-ordinated night attack proved highly successful for the GLA in driving back the Chinese spearhead. Many of the leading heavy tanks were destroyed, and they managed to destroy several battalions of poorly guarded inferno cannons on route to the front. They pushed the Chinese back 10km within the span of a single night. This proved to be an even bigger morale disaster than in Nigeria, as the spearheading divisions were thought to be the most well-trained and well-equipped in the entire North African Front. This proved to be wrong, as the casualty figures, especially for the light Hopper Tanks, were to a scale unprecedented in modern history. The Chinese Chairman called for a transmission from the front. A direct comlink was established from Wu's office in Beijing to General Chen's HQ. "General Chen, give me a sit rep on the operation so far. I have heard the GLA were regaining their ground." "Yes, comrade Wu, they made a co-ordinated night attack on our spearheading forces and now they are in retreat. Should I order them to stand their ground?" "No, I do not plan on losing more than I need to. Have the third phase of the operation begin ahead of schedule. I want the Nigerians to attack as soon as possible." "But sir, we have enough forces stationed in Sudan to overwhelm the GLA. We should send in the Red Guard" "We have no use for the Red Guard." replied Wu, "Call up General Class AA Yun in Nigeria, tell him to begin phase 3 immediately. Meanwhile, shore up the line with our reserves stationed in Sudan. We have another four mechanized divisions at your disposal. Do not send in the Red Guard, they are not well-trained and will only serve as corpses." The Red Army General paused for a moment, and said "Yes sir", with reluctance. 1400 Hours, January 7th 2046 Border between Nigeria and Chad, Kanuri State, Nigerian Federation
"Roger that, I will begin the attack in earnest," radio'd back General Yun. General Class AA Yun, the chief-of-staff of the Federation Army, orders short artillery bombardment before ordering a general advance. At 14:11 hours, the bombardment started. Two hundred artillary guns fired upon a dense 10km front. Satellite imagery and listening outposts revealed that the majority of defensive emplacements in the Chad-Nigerian border were mainly stinger sites and dushka nests, so the choice was made to have the majority of the shells fire shrapnel shells. The initial bombardent was highly successful (six), destroying many GLA defenses and emplacements and clearing the way for the general advance. Men caught out in the open were torn apart by the shrapnel. Limbs were flying left and right as men tried to dive for cover behind sandbag walls and foxholes, only to be sliced apart by the mid-air timed-fuse shells. Only an hour later, the men began their general advance. Three infantry divisions supported by a tank division burst through the GLA front lines. The men of the front line were still recovering from the shell shock, and the front line was in complete chaos. Most soldiers immediately broke, surrendered, or suicidally fought against the advancing Sino-Nigerian army, who's discipline and overwhelming numbers punched a gaping hole their defenses. It was a great success. 2021 Hours Southern Chad The plan was to have the tank division support the infantry wherever needed, as the single tank division (the 56th) was mainly composed of previous-general equipment, and had the poorly trained Red Guard and Nigerian vehicle crews operating them. The only other available tank division in Nigeria is still occupying Cameroon, and at the same time, recovering from the assault, so it could not be spared for this operation. Despite these setbacks to the 56th Tank Division, the initial success of the advance combined with the propaganda and nationalist-induced frenzy of the Red Guard made them overconfident, as the tank division pushed too far into enemy territory. They began to meet fierce and determined GLA resistance, as RPG troopers and Chameleon tanks began ambushing the 56th from every corner. Soon, the tank division was pushed back to the infantry lines, suffering heavy losses. Despite the initial success, the overconfidence of the tank division caused many unnecessary casulties and a minor setback. General Yun now has to work with a weakened tank division for the rest of the assault. Nigerian Attack Count: 72,000 soldiers, including 270 GLA-War era Battlemaster Tanks, 10 GLA-war era Overlods, 20 Twin Fangs Sudanese Attack Count: ~10,000 soldiers, including 18 operational Shenlongs, 25 operational Overlords Casualties Suffered: ~2,000 soldiers, 89 battlemasters lost in the overconfident advance Casualties Inflicted: 3,500 (give or take) soldiers, all front line defenses

The defences of Chad crumbled like the Berlin Wall. Fighters fled and abandoned their vehicles, having lost all sense of purpose and morale with the arrest and conviction of Omar Al-Ghazi . Attempts to rally those who had fled failed and those who remained were ordered to withdraw from Chad. The GLA needed time to regroup, refit and rearm themselves. Their efforts against the Chinese had been valiant, but not enough to be able to defend the borders of their lands. They had surrendered them, but they would return, be it under the command of Omar or under the command of a new leader. The Chinese were free to roll their tanks across the nation with nearly zero resistance. Only having to stop to refuel their vehicles when they ran low on fuel. China was the masters of Chad and had been able to cut The GLA's hold on Africa in half.

(OOC: I wouldn't normally do this with Dmitry's account, but I'm busy doing internal stuff and finishing other things both in and outside of the RP. thought I would make it clear that the casualty amount in my last post regarding Kassad was absolutely rediculous. Therefore, I will state as such 500 Hoppers lost 15 Shen-Longs & Overlords 1,000 soldiers lost I hope this makes you happy, Cell. )
