Fan noted and appreciated the fact that, presently, no one had done the disservice of arresting her. As the long lines of trucks and troop crawlers ferried her borrowed companies home, she had been politely and quietly told that senior PLA leadership was still considering options regarding her personal case. Fan was assigned a small team of guards who would more or less keep her under a kind of military house arrest. These soldiers had also been professional and polite, although they were firm in that they demanded to be present with Fan at all times. She was grateful someone had the foresight to ensure at least one other woman was present with this group, it would make bathroom visits easier. Fan arranged for her major of the 404th, Xin, to prepare a statement on her behalf to her old regiment. Apparently according to the Major, who was ordered back to his post, the men were greatly worried about their leader. It was just as well; the 404th was scheduled for a rotation back to China soon. If the worst passed, they might be able to get out of africa before a potential execution. It did mean she was left in the company of the 25th and 26th's regiments though, and while polite though they may be, their looks were cold and accusatory. There was no room in the PLA for failures.
