Two Weeks Later 3:00 Mediterranean Sea USS Montana
General Kane stared out towards the Cyprus coast, it wasn't easy sneaking off with that many men, especially not with the press right there. Thankfully, the press owed him a few favors and shut up for once. Now time to sit back, and watch all the carefully positioned pieces fall into place. Tomahawk missiles streaed towards the Russian-held Larnaca International Airport. While some were shot down, but the majority crashed into the airport, destroying large sections of the runway and blasting apart stockpiled supplies, helicopters, and communications equipment, and while Russian forces were still in disarray over the unexpected attack, landing craft from the Thunderbird*, Spirit of Juno came asshore near Charlie Point, reinforcing the area, Mastodons and Nanuks taking up pre-planned hull-down positions, while infantry set up reinforced foxholes with . While all this was going on, 3 CQ-3 Trinities made a flyby over the island, spreading leaflets over the area, while 2 C-17 Globemasters carrying construction materials dropped them near Charlie Point, where engineers put them to use reinforcing the outpost and expanding it with a makeshifts half-earthworks half scaffolding "Docks" to ease the offloading of further material. All in all, 3 Trinities, 2 Globemasters, 1 Thunderbird, 2 Guardian Angels, 16 raptor escorts, and 50 tomahawks were all in the air at once for this operation, and that wasn't counting the Spirit of Freedom's fashionably late, yet still passable appearance in the Mediterranean and whatever on-demand air support she had onboard.

Astrakhan, Russian Federation - 0730 HoursGennady stood at the window of his room in his Astrakhan headquarters, staring at the rising sun and the colors of the sky, which slowly subsided from a dark grey, to bright orange, to yellow, and then to a final clear blue sky. He then took a glance at the stack of papers on his desk inside of a folder marked CONFIDENTIAL - COMMAND DIRECTIVE 722C. Contained inside this folder, was the operation to rid Cyprus of the Americans once and for all, with the reinforcements brought in by plane since NAU forces had disengaged for a while. After several weeks of waiting, it was now time to commence the operation. He quickly logged onto his personal ultra-definition military computer and on a line reserved only for senior commanders, he called a polkovnik (colonel) in Cyprus. Within seconds , he was met with an enthusiastic face, from a connection many kilometers away. "You wanted me, General Pavlovsky?" said the dark-haired figure as he gave a brief salute when the secure link was established. This was Polkovnik Igor Ivanovich Mikhailov, sent to Cyprus in the face of stiff American offensives. "Mikhailov, it is time we destroy the Yankees. Commence Operation Liberty Calling," said Pavlovsky, "and eliminate any residual resistance. You will be cooperating with the VDV, and if you do well, you can consider it progress towards a promotion." Liberty Calls. This operation name was a mockery and parody of American operation names. Fitting, seeing as the tables were about to be turned. "Affirmative, General. Time to do my country proud." said Mikhailov. As the link was cut off, Pavlovsky leaned back in his chair. Oh, what a day this is going to be, he thought.. Nicosia, CyprusProfessional Russian infantry stood in formation, silent and at attention as officers around them clamored about, making sure their combat preparations were satisfactory. The idle engines of armored vehicles such as Kodiak tanks added to the noisy atmosphere, becoming an ambient buzz traveling through the air. Then, once a certain Colonel arrived and besides the ever-present pulsing of engines and chirping of birds, the base went quiet. Everyone turned to face Polkovnik Igor Ivanovich Mikhailov, who, in turn, took a deep breath in preparation to give a small speech. "Listen up, men! Today shall be a grand day for Cypriots and for liberty itself. Now, I bet you would all want to be back home, in Russia, or Armenia, with your friends, wives, or kids, kicking back and relaxing. But today, you have a job to do: to deal with a threat to international stability that we know as the USA. They had the nerve to come onto this island, killing and marauding over the proud inhabitants of Cyprus. Nobody ever wished to become a slave to the Americans, to become yet another victim of their sinister intentions. Today, they will be removed like the pests that they are! We will push them out into the sea, in a tidal wave of their own blood, and should they try to come back... we will drown them in the Mediterranean! Now I shall say this... who is with me?" His soldiers let out an inspired "We are with you!". Not yet satisfied, in a bellowing voice, he said it again. "Let me repeat that.. WHO IS WITH ME?!" "WE ARE WITH YOU, TOVARISCH POLKOVNIK! URAAAAAA!" The Russian war machine was ready for action, and only 30 minutes later, two separate prongs of Mikhailov's forces moved out through the Troodos Mountains, one prong towards Paphos (Detachment Volkov), and one towards Limassol (Detachment Fyodor). With ease, the treads and wheels of their vehicles moved through the countryside, encountering merry greetings from Cypriots instead of any resistance. However, the soldiers did not let their guard down, for an ambush or surprise air strike could mean the loss of lives and precious time. After several hours of travel, the cities of Paphos and Limassol were secured and around 50 NAU POWs were taken, the minimal garrison force which would have precipitated the arrival of NAU reinforcements. A single POW was injured when attempting to resist capture, however thankfully the rest of the POWs laid down their weapons and followed orders. They were to be transferred to Famagusta up north, to be exchanged and used as a bargaining piece later. (OOC: I was told by Bruce that there was a small skeleton garrison force or whatever, but he never told me where, so I assumed the west coast of Cyprus.) Now that the west coast was secured, the next step for the CSTO forces: Defending Larnaca and driving out the NAU invaders once and for all, humiliating them militarily. Meanwhile, inside of Nicosia proper, the mobs of angry civilians that threatened to throw the city into chaos were not just controlled, but also subdued by newly trained police officers, riot control squads, and the reformed Cypriot national guard, most of which had defected to the pro-Russian provisional government, the Social Republic of Cyprus. Order was enforced firmly, and the people knew this. To further keep the population in check, a curfew was implemented, lasting from 10:00 PM until 6:30 AM. Until the capital could be secured for sure against future aggression, this curfew would remain.

Rostov-On-Don, Russian Federation0800 HoursGeneral Suvorov stood in his office when his monitor lit up and received a message from the President, Voronov himself, to tell him of the surprise attack on Cyprus by NAU forces... Suvorov suddenly had a headache, how annoying. "General Suvorov, I need you to co-ordinate with our ground elements on Cyprus, they have taken several POWs and are fortifying the defensive ring around the capitol of the island. Your forces are needed to reconvene on the island." Suvorov stared for about 30 seconds before responding, "This is unseemly, do the morons intend to actually fight a war, my forces are on stand-by for when our fleet makes land fall in Madagascar... I will send forces to Cyprus but some will be held in reserve for Madagascar." Voronov looked tired as he replied, "That is good to hear, I am sorry for the inconvenience of the situation, the loss of our bases and death of our comrades on Madagascar is indeed a high priority." Suvorov smiled, "Merely a minor setback, I will start preparing the necessary things, dasvidaniya Mr. Voronov." Suvorov sighed and brought up his 4 rapid response Spetsnaz battalion commander's on screen; Sokol (Melnik), Volk (Artyom), Sapsan (Vyacheslav), and Vityaz (Ysevelov), each were relayed their orders, Sokol, Volk and Vityaz would go to Cyprus and Sapsan would go to Madagascar. Melnik spoke first, "Dammit, and here I thought that whole melodrama was over." Artyom followed, "I have always wanted to visit the beaches of Cyprus personally, I was quite jealous of Melnik." Artyom smiled in a wicked disturbing kind of way as Ysevolov spoke, "We should go in with some style, an airstrike using Vampir and Backfire support would be greatly welcomed." Finally Suvorov responded, "You will be going in with a massive force of VDV and VVS support, Vampir and Backfires will indeed annihilate any forces in your landing zones. If that is all, you are all dismissed, I will dispatch orders to the other VDV Divisions and inform Nikita of the changes in our Madagascar operations." Vyacheslav added "Well at least I get all the glory to myself." The rest chuckled and saluted as Suvorov saluted back and shut off the transmission.Omsk, Russian Federation1145 Hours(15 min after dispatch of orders)Artyom paced from Tu-220 to Tu-220 and made sure everything was in the right order while obsessively staring at his wrist watch, he had the most ungodly wretched smile on his face. He barked orders to his troops, "MAKE SURE YOU GET AS MANY HE-FRAG AS POSSIBLE." His men were scrambling to and fro until finally everything was ready 15 minutes later, all the armored vehicles were loaded and ready, all system checks on the stabilizing hooks were done and the hydraulic assists were all calibrated. The last thing on the check list was ammo storage and promptly taken care of as Artyom climbed into his own MAZ Mamont command vehicle and took up his seat. "I expect you all to kill at least 10 of the bastards before you die on me, hopefully they evacuated the civilians cause I'm in the mood to commit some war crimes, so lets get this shit started, URAAAA!" The Tu-220 'Sapsan' aircraft started to rocket down the runways lifting off and going towards Cyprus airspace.(OOC, if you couldn't tell Artyom is rather unstable, the rest of his compatriots tend to avoid him at parties.)Western Coast, Cyprus0850 Hours(50 min after VDV vanguard dispatched)
"Now entering Cypriot airspace, slowing speed to Mach 2.5 and calculating drop zones." Tu-220 transports co-ordinating with Su-66 and Tu-44M supersonic bombers were barreling toward Limassol, Paphos and Episkopi where NAU forces had been reported operating. "This is callsign Razvedki-2, we will now launch Kh-414M cruise missiles at point Olga, over." "Copy that Razvedki-2, Nykorev-4 will now launch missiles at point Rikardt, over." 10 groups of 4 Su-66 and Tu-44Ms all fired off their payloads and peeled off from the Tu-220 transports and fired off Goliath-AS and various flares to cover the advance of the Tu-220s who then opened their cargo bays and began to offload their cargo while then punching their speed to Mach 5.2 and getting out of the operations zone. Dozens of 30-50 ton yield cruise missiles slammed into the target zones decimating the forward positions of the NAU forces who tried to retaliate with AA batteries which were largely fooled by the Goliath-AS and various bits of chaff still clinging to the air as well as the speed of the aircraft allowing them to get out of target range fairly quickly. As the VDV BMDs, BTRs and various armored vehicles got thrust out of the massive Tu-220s at mach 2.5, the occupants fought to stay conscience while the driver opened up the stabilizing hooks to keep the vehicle upright and detach the soft landing thruster system as it dropped at terminal velocity like a rock towards the earth from several thousand meters in the sky. The vehicles plummeted to within 100 meters of the Earth as the soft landing thrusters came to life jerking the vehicles and slowing their ascent to hit the ground relatively softly, the hydraulics on the various armored vehicles came to life and made the tracks on the vehicles work properly.
Artyom could swear he heard bones crunch as the MAZ landed with a thud, his imagination of course, he quickly unstrapped and walked over to his command table and began reading off the IFF signals of the other units in his battalion as well as those of Sokol and Vityaz battalion, he then looked at the topography and positions of possible enemy signatures relayed by satellite in orbit. He switched to subterranean view for any nasty surprises and smiled to himself, he quickly began giving orders to his units and began communication with Melnik and Ysevelov. As Pavel dismounted from his BTR, he immediately saw the craters and charred earth around him, if anything had been there it had been disintegrated, except for the husks of some armored vehicles. All the troops started to dismount and stretch their legs, they had to wake up a couple of the rookies and in some cases even injected a couple with epinephrine, time was of the essence. After 5 min, they all got back in their armored vehicles and quickly started to move into position while AA dug into areas and Elbrus artillery positions took up their areas and began prepping to fire on enemy positions. The bulk of reinforcements would take a bit more than an extra hour to arrive, possibly more. The ground forces would link up later but for now were mainly fortifying their positions around the capital and making the airport serviceable, though with the rugged nature of the Il-76, that wasn't a major issue. (Roughly 20 min later)"ENEMY CONTACTS AT PAPHOS, ENGAGING!" Several BMDs began to fire ATGMs at range against several enemy armored vehicles while going in reverse and reloading as the enemy tanks and IFVs had a bit of trouble reaching them with their own retaliation, the sound of artillery fire broke the cacophony as they slammed into the formation. Russian infantry dismounted from their IFVs and started taking up positions in the brush and firing on exposed units. Similar situations were occurring in and around Limassol and Episkopi by Melnik and Ysevelov respectively. Enemy aircraft would try to engage and support their beleaguered ground forces only to get shot down by Tor-MD systems in the backlines, the VDV would then pull back after inflicting casualties and regroup making the enemy unable to accurately pinpoint their positions. Artyom was giddy, and while he wanted to get close and create a bloodbath, he kept his forces at a constant 1-2 km distance from the enemy line of fire only firing artillery and ATGMs or taking shots with scoped rifles and then moving back as agreed with the other commanders until the ground forces arrived and further reinforcements. The day was only starting and with it some wonderful carnage.
(OOC, get off my island )

3:00 PM Local Time Spirit of Freedom Command Center (I'm not putting X Said for all of these It's pretty self-evident.)
"Group 5 reports successful landing." "Bunker 14 has been completed." "Spirit of Juno reports reconfiguration complete, en-route to Cyprus, ETA 900 hours" "Sir, It's the Conquisator." Markus looked up. "Patch her through." "This is The Conquisator, Aftershock is down." "Roger that, proceed as planned to Phase II, MOB Freedom out." And with that he closed the comms line. "Contact the rest of the fleet." "Engage pre-planned targets, volley fire, one shot per gun, no more, we'll hit them right where it hurts." "Yes sir." "Is this patched to the fleet?" "Yes sir." "Good, All guns, prepare to fire on my mark." "Mark." Railgun fire from the Spirit of Freedom Task force streaked out, leaving bluish-white streaks of air behind them, hurtling towards Cyprus at several times the speed of sound, impacting in various Russian Fuel Tanks, Ammo Depots, and Supply Stations, sending them up in gouts of fire and smoke. "Sir, we have confirmation, all targets have been hit, 3 seem salvagable" "Hit them again"

September 10th, 2045 Nicosa, Cyprus
Sukhoi's last ditch attempt to assault Charlie Point was failing. The poorly trained Cyprus militia were no match for the NAU defensive positions. On top of that, a naval bombardment was started that crippled his supply lines. As Sukhoi prepared his plans to have the all the Russian reserves, who were meant to repel any amphibious assault the NAU planned, join the next assault, he received a document from moscow, labelled 'To Surorov Sukhoi, Urgent' He opened it. It read: "General-Armii Surorov Sukhoi; As you may already be aware, Andrey Voronov, the former President of Russia, has vanished under mysterious circumstances. The former Vice-President, now President, Dimitri Molchanov, has taken his spot. Under his orders, you are relieved of your duties in Cyprus. Your position as Chief of Staff of the Russian Army, and Chief of Staff of the Cypriot Theatre, is terminated, and replaced by me, General-Armii Alexei Ourumov. As of right now, your orders are to return to Moscow immediatley to receive further instruction from the Defense Ministry. Because the situation on the ground seems too busy for a cerimonial change of command to take place, you should make no preparations for one. You are to leave as soon as possible, but before you go, you should inform your commanders of this change. I will be arriving three days from the delivery of this message, on September 13th, 2045. Thank you for your cooperation. Regards, General-Armii Alexei Ourumov" The General was visibly shocked. He then grabbed his radio, and radioed his Second-in-command. "I want all available Russian Forces to attack Point Charlie immediatley. No questions. That is all." His command was confused, though they had no time to argue. Sukhoi then took off from Cyprus, though he did not return to Moscow as ordered. His wearabouts are currently unknown.
0600 Hours - September 13th 2045 Somewhere outside Nicosia, Cyprus
General Ourumov arrived in a civilian airport outside Nicosa, flying incognito on a cargo jet. He became aware of Sukhoi's sudden disapearance the day before, so he made the decision to bring his elite personal guard, the VKO ("Vse Klimaticheskiye Operatsii") for security reasons. 35 VKO troopers were following him from behind. Upon arrival at the airport, the General came out first. He only set one foot on the ashphalt ground before three armed men spotted him, and raised their guns. "Freeze! You will not be taking command here. We are under orders to arrest you on site." The General let out a smirk. "Don't be so sure..." From behind, his entire platoon of VKO troopers came out of the plane. All 35 operatives raised their weapons, and yelled "DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" There was a brief standoff between the two sides, before General Ourumov looked at the squad commander. "I suggest you look at this situation objectively, Sergeant Birov. 3 against 35?", he paused, "You cannot win." The armed men dropped their weapons and surrendered. The General ordered them tied up and interrogated. Ourumov thought his Old Guard might have questionable loyalties after Surorov's sudden dissappearance, and his intuition proved him right. According to the men, Sukhoi's Old Guard has completley taken over command of all Russian and Russian-allied forces in the area. Apparently, the staff of the Old GUard, has taken over the government of the Social Republic of Cyprus, while their leader, Colonel-General Dukhovin, has decided to consolidate all power in the Social Republic of Cyprus for himself, effectively making him the dictator. He prepared for General Ourumov by ordering men to arrest him upon arrival. He stationed a small section of 3 troops of the Old Guard at each airport in Russian-controlled Cyprus. Meanwhile, the situation on the front line was grim, according to the interrogated soldiers. Though Russian-allies held the majority of the land, the NAU had a very strong foothold in Point Charlie, from which they planned to launch their attacks. Sergeant Birov provided him with a map. The situation was bad, but Ourumov had much more immediate matters to deal with. The war against the NAU would have to wait. He now had 22 hours before the Old Guard knows something is wrong, so he took out his plans for the assault on Nicosa's presidential palace. First, he must gain control of his forces. --- Meanwhile, the attack on Point Charlie has been going on for the past two days. The Well-Trained Russian Forces made moderate gains at first, before being stalled by heavy defenses as they advanced further. On top of that, their supply lines were in chaos, and the front lines were beginning to run out of food and ammunition, on top of that, the troops were beginning to lose morale, and faith in their command.

“Weapons status?” “All weapons online and stand-by, Commodore” “Communications?” “Internal fleet: connected. Public and Army channels: open. Radio stand-by, Commodore” “Excellent. Now set course. Cyprus, here we come..” Commodore Adam Borgerson nearly whispers the last one. Carefully thinking of the orders which he got: Rescue native Turkish people, from the warzone that is called Cyprus. A dangerous task, but they were well prepared. After all, there is enough on stake. Borgerson reaches out and grabs the microphone, switching to internal fleet channel. “This is your Commodore, Adam Borgerson. We are heading for Cyprus. All hands on deck and be prepared. For we are not sure what to encounter. All captains have received the orders that were giving by me, from the Orange General himself.” Adam paused. He is thinking about his decision how to approach the island. Orders were easy: come from the south side. And use the former and abandoned British bases as landing grounds. The western landing ground will be not that big a deal. After all, that was still under the control of the Canadian Forces. Yet unclear is the situation on the eastern landing ground. That area lies in the Russian controlled grounds. Where they the Old Guard? The Rogue Forces? Or the Russian forces loyal to the new Russian President? “All hands, man your battle stations! The ECA, our allies and the Turkish people are counting on us.” Adam Borgerson shuts down the radio, and takes seat on the bridge. “Order 2 Radar Copters to take off. I want some eyes in the sky,” The Commodore orders his officers. Curiously about what they will encounter, Mr Borgerson nods when his officers contacts some of the helicopter crewmembers. The Rescue Mission begins…
