General Brown looked at his battle plans. He had plenty of time to draft them, considering the long voyage over to Europe from America. He was offered a ride on an aircraft rather than with the fleet, but refused citing Russian Air Superiority. In truth, not only did he want to be with his men, but he also personally knew the commander of this fleet. Since high school, they have been close friends, even as they fight in their respective branches. They were very close to Cyprus now however, and he knew this when the majority of his fleet branched off to dock with the Spirit of Liberty in Isreal. This specific complement of forces however is assigned to reinforce Cyprus. It is feared that either the Russians or the Turkish will try to capture Cyprus, which cannot happen for a wide variety of reasons. He heard a knock on his door, which a call "Colonel Lance here General". "Come in Colonel". Colonel Lance walked in. He was one of the newer officers of the Marines, but he did show a lot of skill, which allowed him to quickly rise in the ranks. "I request a full review of the battle plans. I know them, but you told me to come in here and ask you again to account for changes." The General smiled. "Yes, I have made a few changes, especially after the Commander told me what air support we have." The General gave the Colonel some documents, which he then read. The Colonel finished reading the documents. The General then began to speak. "Our Aircraft Carrier will launch their raptors as soon as our forces leave. They will escort you to Cyprus. They will then stay to keep control of the air. The commander here will be commanding the drone carriers to provide any close air support we need. This is supposed to be a small mission, but if things get out of hand, we have our additional forces stationed with the Spirit of Liberty. We also have our brand new refitted Aurora Bombers. These just got out of testing, so we must make sure not to lose any of them. If we are lucky, no-one will oppose us, and we can simply build up our base there.. but I highly doubt it." "Very well General, I will begin sending our forward forces as soon as the Ospreys and Starlifters are done fueling up. I will not let you down General." And with that, he left to begin to gather his troops.

Colonel Lance stepped out of the Osprey, dressed in his full combat gear, with the rest of his division. This specific division is trained in anti-infantry support, and consists of the Navy Corpsmen, some Vanguard Infantry, and several Marines armed with LMGs. If needed, they also have a few single-use LAWs for emergency situations. Lance watched the rest of the Ospreys and the Starlifters unload. Several M163 Vulcans, Acolyte Tanks, and Bradley IFVs poured out of the Starlifters. Out of the Ospreys come the Javelin Teams, additional Marine Teams, Missile Teams, and the Engineers. The Colonel then contacted the General. "General, we have landed successfully. We are going to head to the beach front to clear out the garrison." The General replied: "Excellent, our spy planes have just scouted out the area, but things are spotty. Our spy plane reported that nothing was there. We suspect the usage of GPS Scramblers, Blackout Nodes, or some other technology we have no idea about. There may really be nothing there, but do be careful." "Understood General. Heading out." He ordered his troops into the IFVs, and began to head to the beach...

- Tula, Russia - 4:50 Moscow Time
General Suvorov rested in his chair during the early hours of the day contemplating the orders he had received on a secure communications line... He had been indirectly ordered to war by his president in a sense, low intensity but still combat. He read over the report on his tablet, a handy tool indeed, his office was slowly being brightened by the sun as he scrolled over the information. Suvorov sighed and opened a communications link to Rostov-On-Don and brought up his most elite unit's commander on his large screen conference monitor hanging high on the wall with a proud Russian double eagle splayed over the top. Melnik answered quickly and saw Suvorov in his chair still reading over some reports. "Sir, I have already received the dispatch orders and have prepared the Sokol Spetsnaz battalion as per your orders." Suvorov finally took his eyes off the screen and gave his most trusted Pulkovnik (colonel) a nod and added "Good Melnik, it has been a couple years but it would seem our comrades in arms will see combat once again, good hunting in Cyprus. If things get heated, I may have to go myself." Melnik simply smiled, saluted and ended the transmission. Suvorov relaxed, put his tablet away and wondered if Russia would ever rest from these tiresome petty global escapades, but the motherland will never rest until her enemies are bloody upon her glorious talons of vengeance.- Rostov-On-Don, Russia - 6:00, Moscow Time
Melnik stood in front of his troops as they moved to the Tu-220 transport aircraft and mentally checked things off as he watched them file into the planes and armored vehicles get their stabilizing hooks adjusted with their soft landing rocket packs being installed and packed into the lumbering monstrosities of planes. These troops were among the best the Russian military had, not quite as specialized as Alfa, Vympel or GRU spetsnaz, they were as tough and skilled and ready to serve their nation with some of the most advanced hardware available to the motherland and even a few experimental surprises... He began walking to his transport craft as its engines hummed to life, surprisingly quiet for such a beast, dwarfing even the Il-76s in the airfield; he proceeded to get into his MAZ-9270-21-7 'Knjaz' (King) command vehicle and sealed the hatch as he got in and looked at the faces of his comrades. He activated his ear-piece and began communicating to his men, "We will be going in unmarked, as you may have noticed, the BMDs and tanks have been removed of their marks and license plates, you are to take off your patches and insignia and stash them into your vehicles lockers. Comrades this day we will be engaging some of the most maneuverable and advanced soldiers in the world but we can easily overcome them so long as we keep to our training and do not panic, we are the VDV... NOBODY, BUT US." he heard his men over the vehicle radio system give a joyous and excited "Uraaaaa!!!"
- Nicosia, Cyprus -6:30, Moscow Time (5:30, Eastern Europe Time (Cyrpus))
The Sokol battalion flew over Cyprus at speeds faster than sound, suddenly the backs of the monstrous Tu-220s opened as the clamps in the cargo bays came undone, this all needed to be done quickly and with precision. The BMDs, BTRs and light tanks slid out the back of the aircraft and began their plumett to the earth 9,000 meters below. The drivers of the various armored vehicles began to unfold the various stabilizing hooks and rods to keep the vehicle on course and to keep it from flipping as they fought the G forces urging them to pass out, some of the troops mostly the green ones passed out on the way down and the others simply closed their eyes and kept calm as the drivers used GLONASS to triangulate their relative position and keep them on track. Around the 1,000 meter mark the release catches on the soyuz soft landing thrusters came undone and the large machine slammed upward and jolted the vehicles and finally at 100 meters they rocketed to life slowing the descent of the armored caskets and allowing them bump onto the ground smashing their wooden palettes to pieces and stunning the crews. They had arrived all over Cyprus with slight scattering, most of them immediately headed to Nicosia to secure the airport and other headed to other vital areas of control and interest. The VDV could hardly give the USMC the time of day to try and secure their own positions.
Melnik hugged his rifle, he really freaking hated those damn drops and he fondled his Chernobog silenced assault weapon. The day would be hard fought but the BMDs, BTRs, and various tanks had all landed safely and now the troops were busy moving to their needed locations and digging into others. Their brought a massive amount of ordnance and had even dropped a few Rakushkas with nothing but arms and weapons, if they aboslutely needed it they could requisition more supplies within only an hour or so and easily have it delivered to air superiority but Melnik left nothing to chance. His command vehicle came to a stop and his unit clambered out with their bulky AShA-36Ms and various other arms as their comrades moved about securing the Nicosia International Airport. This would be interesting indeed.

Colonel Lance arrived at the beach, only to find it completely clear. After double checking the area, he contacted the General. "General, there is no garrison here. I don't think there is anyone on this island to oppose us at all, we may be able to take the island diplomatically." "Understood Colonel, we are sending in the engineering force. No need to send our main forces." Lance started to say: "Understood General, preparing to send.." but was interrupted by one of his corpsmen. "Colonel, I see a Tu-220 in the sky. It appeared to drop a few vehicles a few miles away." Lance looked around: he knew he had no chance of stopping it with his limited forces. He contacted the General: "General, a Tu-220 just dropped a few vehicles a few miles from us. May be more." Adam Brown was confused: Why were the Russians here? "Confirm Colonel, that can't be right." The Colonel quickly took binoculars from the nearest marine, and spied on the plane. It had no markings, but it was clearly a Russian plane. "General, this plane isn't marked, but this is clearly a Russian plane. We aren't sure where they are going, but if they come here, we can hold against them. But any idea when your main forces can be here?" The General however did not respond back. He quickly ran out to alert the commander of the fleet and prepare an attack force. ----- Back on the Carrier, General Brown prepared to head out on an amphibious transport. The raptors recently took off to attempt to establish air superiority before the Russians could, and Hunter Killers began to launch from one of the drone carriers to secure areas close to the beach. He had no idea why the Russians got involved in this operation, but clearly there is something valuable they want. The Spirit of Liberty was contacted, and they sent amphibious transports out to transport the rest of Brown's forces to the beach. This is not going to be an easy operation, since he has no intelligence on the Russian forces. But he has won battles with far worse chances, he was not just about to lose a battle with some Russians. Though the lack of marks worried him. He will have no idea exactly who he is shooting at. This may cause a few problems internationally. ----- Colonel Lance waited at the beach. His vanguards deployed turrets around the area, and they waited for the rest of the forces to group up with them. It was a tense moment however, as they had no idea when the Russians will attack, if at all. He did spy Raptors flying in from the sea, so it is likely they are already establishing a no-fly zone, but this will not stop the forces already in the area. Just then, his Sergeant got an alert. He looked at his tablet, and noticed a vehicle pass by one of his hidden turrets. He turned to speak with the Colonel, but he already knew this. He interjected by asking "What marks do they have?" "They are unmarked." "Do not engage, could be local forces. We are still trying to take the island diplomatically if at all possible." It was a tense few minutes, but suddenly they spied the vehicle speeding towards them. It was a BMD, unmarked. The Colonel realized that this wasn't an envoy: They wanted to attack. Before he could give the order to spread out however, the BMD fired a mortar at them. Several of the marines instinctively scattered, but the mortar caught several of the marines. Corpsmen attempted to run to take care of the wounded, but the BMD began unloading VSU Snipers who began to pick off the corpsmen. The Colonel acted quickly: "Javelin Team, fire at that BMD before it can reload!" They complied, and fired a Javelin at the BMD. It successfully hit the BMD and destroyed it, but not before it could unload all of its remaining troops. The Colonel ordered his troops to find cover, and ordered his Vulcans and Bradleys to provide suppressive fire. The Bradleys unloaded their autocannons and coaxial machine guns into the enemy troops, while the Vulcans began to rev up their guns. The combined fire managed to not only force the enemy troops to find cover behind their former APC, but also down several of them. The marines began to join in as they found their cover, and successfully kept the unknown enemy troops at bay. The Colonel radioed the General informing him of the situation: "General, an unmarked APC engaged us, but we are successfully keeping them suppressed. When will the rest of the forces come into the beachhead?" "Our Hunter Killers will reach there in 5 minutes, the rest of the forces should start arriving in 15 minutes. Keep hold of the Beachhead until then." The Colonel had full confidence he could do this without fail, until his marines shouted to him that additional forces were incoming. He looked out. Tor-MDs, Sprut-SDs, and additional BMDs were approaching. The Colonel knew he would have a hard time here, but he had no choice but to hold the beach head, or more lives will be lost today. He ordered his men into defensive positions, and began to fight for the beach. [OOC: Not the best with dialogue, sorry.]

Nicosia, CyprusNoon
Russian forces moved to secure the airport and lock down the city, the local police forces had no idea how to respond and most simply stood idle while only a dozen or so actually attempted to stop armored vehicles and troops, thankfully no fatalities occurred. The government was in disarray and confused by the seeming invasion of a worthless island by 2 superpowers at the same time, however while the US was waving their flag, the Russian government denied the involvement of its troops. Along with the VDV Sokol spetsnaz battalion, a small team of GRU operators also arrived in their own BMD which made a beeline to the government buildings. The GRU team approached the gate of the Presidential Palace at full speed and rammed it open. They opened fire on the compound with their 148 mm gun and AGS-30 grenade launcher blasting off chunks of the palace as 6 figures got out and started moving with purpose towards the slowly decaying structure. The BMD began moving in a circle around the building as the operators moved through a hole in the wall and walked over a few bodies of once armed guards. They moved up the stairs of the main room and checked their corners, as one rounded the corner a guard let loose a torrent of machine gun fire and the GRU operator recoiled on instinct and tossed an RGN-129 grenade into the corridor while hugging the wall as the thermobaric blast of the grenade incinerated the guard. The troops continued down the hall and finished off the rest of the guards with their Chernobog-M silenced assault rifles and as they approached the presidential office, they heard the BMD fire off its 45 mm autocannon and the shrieks of dying men. The leader of the group radioed the BMD crew and confirmed that it had intercepted the president, his staff and several guards attempting to sneak out of the building. Mission accomplished the troops began wiring the building for demolition and set the timer to 30 minutes and making sure no witnesses could recount what happened, as they made their way back to the BMD to complete their next objective.
Nicosia Parliament, 10 min laterThe BMD drove right up the parliament which was packed full of the nation's lawmakers and the PM himself as they made a deliberation on how to quell the crisis and open diplomatic channels to the invading parties. The GRU simply stalked the outside and set several charges on the most vulnerable of the support struts and columns of the building, then rounded to the front where armed guards opened fire on the GRU, but the BMD simply shredded them as the GRU troops moved up the stairs and went into the main hall, with flash protective goggles and noise cancellation equipment on their helmet activated, they tossed SMG-OA2 stun grenades and for added measure threw a few RGN-129 grenades killing a couple MPs and leaving the rest panicking and debilitated and proceeded to use non silenced fire arms to fire into the air while proceeding to leave the building, get into the BMD and leave the area waiting for the cypriot government to flee their parliament... Once most had flooded out of the building they detonated the charges and the building collapsed, several just leaving were thrown onto the ground shell shocked from the blast. The BMD made its way back to the International airport to rejoin the Sokol battalion with its final primary objective finished with about 3/4 of the government surviving and the nation plunged into chaos.
Melnik made sure to secure the Nicosia airport and as he made the final rounds of his men fortifying the area around it, he called into the Rostov-On-Don VDV base and requested reinforcements and the delivery of a special team of men and women that would make this whole endeavor worth while... A lieutenant named Vladimir walked up to Melnik to give a status report "Sir, we have locked down the airport and set up check points in the vital veins of the city, we now effectively control it, we also have disturbing reports of GLA movement in the area but maybe thats just intelligence trying to spook us..." Vladimir slightly smiled but Melnik didn't, he hated the GLA, he had fought them in Africa in a different time and place. "Also, Pulkovnik, we have heard very unsettling news of the parliament and presidential palace being levelled to the ground and reports of the president being killed." Melnik simply responded "Hmmm, that is indeed unsettling, report this to HQ." Vladimir saluted and left to go back to the MAZ command vehicle. Meanwhile smaller contingents of VDV forces moved to secure vital areas at Limassol and Lanarca while a couple platoons had spotted the USMC landing zone in the south western beach head of the island and had engaged in a limited capacity. A few BMDs, Sprut-SD and one of the Tor-MD platforms had assaulted the marines and taken a BMD loss but had otherwise pulled back after inflicting the loss of a few acolyte tanks and a platoon of the marines. Melnik had made note of the USMC position and had ordered several of the Tor-M4-Ds that had dropped with his battalion to take up positions in the countryside with a couple back at the airport. A couple brave raptors had probed into the defensive net and had taken a couple losses, the Hunter Killers that had been dispatched to take care of the contingent that had engaged the marines had been luckier but still took a loss. Melnik was awaiting the arrival of T-15AM2 Kodiaks and some Elbrus artillery support to be able to directly engage the US forces.

[I'm going to start putting Time and Setting]
12:00 United States of America Washington District of Columbia
John Miller continued negotiations with the President of Cyprus, Demetris Anastasiades. They were not going very well. "You sent US forces to my island in an attempt to influence me to let you build a base here? That will not work Mr. President." John Miller knew that this was not the best idea in hindsight, so he attempted to diffuse the situation. "I sent them there to provide support against any GLA terrorists or Balkan forces. Nothing more. We are not trying to invade your island." John Miller was pleased with his explanation, after all, it was partly true. "Mr. President, if what you say is true, then why are your forces locking down our capital here?" John Miller's expression went from a slight happiness to something.. cold, indescribable really. "I did not authorize that." Anastasiades continued. "And sending forces to secure our airport? What are we, terrorists?" Miller was not happy about this course of events. "I did not authorize that." Just then, one of Anastasiades' aides ran in, and talked to the president. "And you send your forces HERE to kidnap or kill me?" But before Miller could say anything, his aide quickly told him that these were BMDs, something the US does not use. Miller realized someone else wanted the island, or were at the very least trying to discredit the US. Suddenly Anastasiades spoke up. "Mr. President, if what you say is true, then please, liberate Cyprus. Take out whoever these people are, and free this city. Our national guard is at your disposal, and we are willing to support your own forces here. I'll send that message to all of my high commanders here before I leave myself." "Mr. Anastasiades, I will inform my own commanders of this turn of events. I will take back your country. I will not let these terrorists win." And then the video feed cut off, presumably because the Cyprus president did not want to die yet. Miller quickly informed his staff to set up an emergency meeting with the commanders in Cyprus, then activate the spy link. ------ 12:15 Off the Coast of Cyprus Command Ship
General Brown was sitting in a room with several of the Navy commanders. It was their lunch-time, and he was glad to talk to Robert "Bobby" Smith, one of his oldest friends. He was an Admiral in the Navy, gaining rank at a similar speed to Adam Brown. They were having a pleasant lunch, until an emergency alert came up on the screen inside the room. It was a message directly from the President of the US. One of the commanders moved to allow the link, and the face of John Miller popped up. "Commanders, we have a situation. Our goal of the mission has changed. Terrorists have entered the Cyprus capital and have secured the airport. They have also made an advance to the government complex. Our recon drones have footage of these terrorists opening fire on the Presidential Residence, killing the president; they have also opened fire on the Parliament building, and have detonated both buildings. We still do not have any idea who these people are." Brown moved to speak up. "Mr. President, the detachment of marines I sent to secure the beachhead told me that a Russian Tu-220 dropped several troops near his position. They were also attacked by a detachment of unmarked forces, including a BMD, Tor-MD, and some Sprut-SDs. John Miller was not happy about that information. "Brown, we have also gained information on a GLA cell operating in Cyprus. These may be GLA forces, but they may also be Russian forces. If what you say is true, we will have an international incident." Miller paused a bit to contemplate his next words. "The President of Cyprus... before he was killed... asked us to liberate the Capital. We shall do this. If what you say about Russian Involvement is true, this operation will be hard. Therefore, I am fully authorizing the use of our new Aurora Bombers in this operation, in addition to B1 Lancer and A-10 support. Do not lose any Auroras, these are expensive and are not to be wasted. Also make sure to not cause any civilian deaths. We need to come here as liberators, not terrorists. I trust you all will do a good job." Brown nodded, and the link closed. The commanders moved to organize their forces. --- 12:45 Off the Coast of Cyprus Patrol Fleet
Rear Admiral Parker looked over the Horizon. While the majority of the fleet was ordered to stay with the Carriers, his fleet was ordered to form a patrol of the island, and report any ship and aircraft movement. They were not to engage, only report. So far, they didn't see anything, apart from a few civilian fishing trawlers, going away from the island. But then Parker spotted something:
10 Il-76s were incoming to the island. They were violating the no-fly zone established by the US. Parker contacted command: "Admiral, we have 10 Il-76 transports incoming to the island. They look like they are trying to land at the airport based on the direction they are heading." The admiral knew that this was not a good thing. These terrorists are far more equipped than they previously thought, and Brown was probably right about them being Russian. "Attempt to contact them. Get them to turn around. I'll send raptors around that area. Let me know how things go." Parker complied. "Unknown Aircraft, type Il-76. Turn immediately. You are entering a no-fly zone." There was no response for 5 minutes. Parker sent the confirmation to the admiral. --- Flight Captain Greene flew his squadron into the area where the transports were seen. Eventually, their targeting computers registered 10 aircraft in the area. He ordered a strike on the forward transport.
The missiles successfully took out one of the transports. He ordered a shot into another plane. It too was destroyed. Another volley missiles went out. This time the plane was not destroyed, but it was forced into a landing. However, their other volleys had no such luck; the pilots were able to perform evasive maneuvers, and the missiles that hit were not enough to damage them; the pilots managed to keep their planes under control and heading to their destination. With 3 of the planes downed however, his squadron went back to the carrier to refuel and regroup. Their vulcan cannons were no match for the transports' heavy armor, and he was not just about to lose raptors to the heavy cannons they have. --- 12:45 Cyprus Southwest Beachhead
The Expeditionary forces moved into the beachhead. Colonel Lance moved to join them, and saw an interesting sight.
General Brown was in his Mobile Command vehicle. The Colonel moved to join him inside.
"Colonel, our objectives have changed, as you hopefully know from the information I sent you. Your objective is to send some forces into the capital of Nicosia and attempt to liberate it. You will gain full A-10 support and B1 Lancer bombers on that operation, but avoid any civilian casualties. You should also try to destroy any Anti-Air units you see so our Auroras will have an easier time going in, and will not need to waste fuel attempting to support us. The rest of our forces will work on eliminating AA units and reinforcing the national guard and local law enforcement here. But you know your role now, move out!" Lance ran out of the command center and began to order his forces to their IFVs and move to the capital.

Nicossia12:55, International Airport
Lumbering Il-76s came gracefully landing onto the runway, even a couple of extremely damaged ones, one even had half a wing missing, and with a flaming engine had only 2 engines keeping afloat as it touched down, shrapnel holes pockmarked the hull and the pilots had looks of consternation while grimacing and praying to all that is possible, that they yet survived. Melnik asked for a status report from his lieutenant Vladimir, "Sir, it would seem that the US has seriously committed an aircraft carrier to a no fly zone around the island." Melnik thoughtfully stared at the monitor of the 2 limping Ilyushins and responded, "We seem to have underestimated their resolve to this conflict, this might get more heated than I thought, put Volk battalion on standby in Yaketerinburg and do a check on our surviving equipment." Vladimir saluted, pivoted on his foot and moved towards the airport with a calm purpose; Melnik simply mumbled to himself and got on his comm-link to the forward most detachment of troops and told them to stay on their toes. Vladimir radioed back that they had lost the shipment of an Elbrus mobile artillery piece and the loss 2 BMPTs, thankfully since it wasn't a drop they were unoccupied they also presumed that they lost a kodiak that had been carried by an Il-76 that had been forced to land. The good news as Vladimir put it was that a kodiak and 3 BMPs had survived being riddled with shrapnel from the missiles on the raptors along with the other 2 kodiaks, the S-400 'triumf/grumble', 2 tor-m4-ds and an additional 3 BMPs giving them a good field presence for sustained warfare along with their initial BMDs, BTRs, and the like along with their 'special team'. Melnik smiled, it wasn't too bad, "Alright, I want our base in rostov to send another sortie of 6 planes loaded with 'seraphim' and additional heavy AA, and this time send Berkut escorts, they are too be alert for the raptors this time, take a route cutting through syria this time." Melnik sighed, he hadn't slept for 32 hours and he likely wouldn't sleep the next couple days, so he pulled out his field rations and made himself some old fashion Russian black tea and relaxed for once.South Cyprus 13:30
Russian VDV moved with 3 BMDs towards the downed Ilyushin near the US beach head scanned the area with IR range finders for enemy signatures, none detected within 1 km... good enough, a unit of 10 moved with their AShA-36Ms and RPG-30s ready and had set up a position of 2 snipers armed with Balalaika rifles occasionally scanning the area. They confirmed life signs of 3 passengers, likely the pilots and their navigator and moved up to the plane and confirmed 2 alive and unconcious but the co-pilot had a metal rod sticking through his neck, he still had a heat signature but it was starting to fade. 4 moved around to check the cargo, unsalvagable and destroyed kodiak tank... They quickly used explosives to get rid of its markings... The snipers pinged them on their battlefield tablets, the leader looked down 'several large heat signatures detected 800 meters coming from the south west'. It was time to move behind defilade, they quickly cut the pilots out of their harnesses and carried them back to the BMDs as 12 men got behind a grassy knoll weapons at the ready, at 200 meters the BMDs opened a salvo of missile fire at the targets. All three found their marks and destroyed what appeared to be IFVs with the about a dozen soldiers surviving and running from the burning wrecks, the US troops opened fire at the BMDs as they moved backwards and fired AGS grenades launcher fire in their general direction.
The marines opened fire with vulcan miniguns suppressing the troops behind the knoll, as some moved to flank, the marines noticed and took pot shots from their rifles, the VDV moved unfazed as one got behind a tree and fired his RPG-30 at another M113 IFV and knocked it out, another opened fire with his AShA-36 and killed a couple marines before a frag landed in the midst of the troops... Unthinking a soldier jumped on top and was blown up sustaining heavy injury, his body was largely fine but the blast had killed him with concussive force. His comrades enraged tossed 2 RGN-129 grenades, the marines scattered and took a few losses but remained calm and opened fire again catching another VDV in the throat, the last 2 quickly retreated to cover and radioed for sniper fire. The 2 snipers opened fire and caught some of the soldiers by surprise, 1 went down but the rest ducked and an acolyte tank opened fire in the vicinity of the snipers, almost killing one, his comrade dragged him out of danger to a BMD, the remaining 8 VDV on the knoll opened fire with their AShA assault rifles while one fired an RPG-30 blowing out the turret of the acolyte and as 1 survivor crawled out, another shot him with his AShA-36. They continued to suppress the marines but one was caught by vulcan fire that nearly tore him in half, the other 2 VDV regrouped and the 9 doubled back to their BMDs as another 2 got caught by another acolyte firing on them, the 3 BMDs responded by firing a volley of 148 mm low pressurized rounds at the remaining american armor causing the acolyte to take some hull damage and slowly retreat backwards as the remaining IFV moved forward and marines fired a volley of missiles at the BMDs catching one in the turret and blowing it up but leaving the crew unharmed as they retreated to a more secure area. A squad of 3 A-10 Fairchild Thunderbolt-2s appeared over the worn down marine squad just missing the engagement, part of the reason the Russians high tailed it out of the area just 3 min after they retreated and pursued the 3 BMPs, they caught up to them in no time and began a strafing run, right as their cannons began to spin, a volley of 8 missiles came flying out of the brush 30 km away, they popped flares and continued to fire their missiles, they barely missed 2 of the vehicles, managing to hit one in the engine and destroying one while glancing the other, but their flares werent enough and 2 took direct hits, both their engines had been destroyed and 1 of them was totally annihilated with the other allowing the pilots to eject, the other disengaged and fly out of range before another volley fired... Another volley did fire but the target was the ejected pilots, they were hit and didn't survive. Meanwhile the Tor-MDs began retreating to a more defensible line.

13:30 Somewhere in Cyprus USMC HQ
General Brown continued to command his forces from the HQ. Colonel Lance was about an hour away from the capital, and his forces were more than well equipped to not only blockade the capital, but also invade it if necessary. The rest of the forces were tasked with destroying enemy patrols and AA bunkers. Meanwhile, his Combat Engineers began to set up firebase positions at key strategic positions, and a few M167 VADs were also towed in to support the Firebases with Anti-Air installations. Just then, a secure transmission from the president came in. General Brown brought it up screen. The president's face was staring at him through the LCD screen. "General, how goes the conflict?" The General replied truthfully, "Mr. President, we had some trouble, but we are gaining ground. We will be surrounding the capital in about 1 hour. We have had some support from National Guard units, a few of them think the order from the president was a lie however" "Very good, I have sent you additional forces. The Spirit of Liberty will now be protecting the East Coast, along with its Aircraft Carriers. In about 30 minutes, the entire coastline will be locked down. No-one will be in or out. I am also authorizing the use of the Particle Cannon, but avoid using it unless absolutely needed. We have intel reports of a Tremor about 2000km away, but we do not know exactly where." The president paused a bit. "I am also authorizing the use of the TMD and our propaganda drops. Use them to send the capital forces in disarray when you blockade it." The general nodded. He cut off the link, and continued to run the battle. He noticed a battalion in trouble, and authorized A-10s to support them...
14:30 Nearby Nicossia Colonel Lance's ForcesColonel Lance continued to travel towards the capital. They met some resistance along the way from BMDs and other light vehicles, but they were no match for Paladin Tanks. These specific forces contain Corpsmen, Vanguards, Javelins, Missile Defender Teams, Marines, Paladin Tanks, Bradley IFVs, Tomahawk Cruise Missile Launchers, M48 Chaparral MK2s, M163 Vulcans, M113 Repair Vehicles, and M113 Medical Vehicles. They were heavier than most of the forces, mainly because they were meant to come to secure an area with a large amount of enemy hostiles. They really did not get involved with too many hostiles, but their good luck changed with a nice boom: The shot managed to destroy one of the Bradley IFVs, killing its occupants. Colonel Lance grabbed the radio from his console and barked an order to take cover. Most of the forces managed to get into cover before it could fire again. Lance gave another order: "I want to know what that tank is, now!" A reply came up: "Looks to be a Kodiak tank Colonel, it seems the Russians want to prevent us from getting into the capital." Colonel Lance knew what he had to do. He ordered his tank commander to move in firing range of the Kodiak. The Kodiak fired another shot, but it simply Ricocheted off the heavy duty composite armor. The Paladin had its turn, and fired right into the ammo bank. While the ERA attempted to deflect the shot, it did not work: Lance and his crew cheered as the Tank blew up. But their trouble was not over. Not only were additional Kodiak Tanks in the area, but HE shells were spotted coming down on his men. Lance ordered a scramble, but a few of the shells did manage to land on his forces, destroying one of the Tomahawks and also an M113 Medical APC. Lance cursed at these turn of events, and began to open fire on the Kodiak tanks. Meanwhile, his remaining Tomahawks managed to pin down the Elbrus artillery platforms, and fired their cruise missiles. With precision, the Tomahawks landed, totally destroying the artillery platforms. However, additional BMDs came in to support the Kodiaks, and unloaded their contents. They contained forces of the VDV, armed with anti-tank missiles. While useless against Paladin Tanks and Bradleys, they did manage to destroy another Tomahawk. Lance ordered his Tomahawks to retreat, while ordering his troops to get out. His Vanguards deployed Hellfire Drones, while his Missile Defender and Javelin teams taking up positions. His Pathfinder Snipers and Marines began to pick off the VDV. A-10 and B1 Lancer support was called in. The battle for the capital has begun!
13:00 Off the Coast of Isreal USS Spirit of Liberty Command Center
Fleet Admiral Jenson was sitting in the command bay of the USS Spirit of Liberty, one of the few Mobile Offshore Bases the US Navy possessed. He was ordered to dock in Isreal a few weeks ago, for reasons unknown. He was getting tired of this place, and wanted to move out. Just then however, his wish was granted, with an urgent message from the President. He brought it up on screen. "Admiral, our forces in Cyprus need help. Things escalated over there, I need you to help in the blockade of the island. Send your raptors to intercept ANY aircraft attempting to enter. I recommend heading into the eastern seaboard; the Navy already has the western area under control." The Admiral saluted, then began to give the order.
14:30 Off the Western Shore of Cyprus Near the Russian supply fleet
Flight Captain Jenkins flew out into the sea. Recon drones from the Spirit of Liberty intercepted another supply plane attempting to break into Cyprus, this time from the east. His squadron was ordered to intercept them, and destroy them. Unlike the engagement in the west however, they had approximately 30 Berkut fighter planes with them, likely to not only defend the convoy, but challenge American air superiority in the region. This could not happen, as the Hunter-Killer drones were the only thing that gave close-support to the American marines as they moved to the capital in the absence of Helicopters. Jenkins noticed his targeting computer targeting a few of the transport planes. He gave the order to engage, and fired his missiles. They successfully hit the Transport Plane, downing it, but the Berkuts noticed and began to take chase. They fired their missiles at the raptors. Jenkins noticed the HUD notifying of the missiles, and barked out orders for evasive maneuvers. Their maneuvers did not manage to escape the missiles, but their point-defense lasers managed to hit the missiles before they could come too close. The Raptors attempted to fire a volley in retaliation at the Berkuts, but while a few of them connected taking the berkuts down, most of them activated their Goliath-AM countermeasures, making it worthless. Jenkins cursed, he knew he had to keep them at bay, but he also knew that using missiles was futile. Finally, he ordered his squadron to move out into close range, and use their Vulcans. At least then they could keep them distracted, and perhaps even take them down.
14:55 Off the Western Shore of Cyprus On the USS Spirit of Liberty
Fleet Admiral Jenkins was in the main command office, overseeing the operation. His fleet was ordered to reinforce the patrol of the island, and his aircraft carriers sent out a Sea Raptor squadron to intercept another supply fleet moving in from the East. He heard the report from his aide as they successfully engaged them, but were beginning to take losses. The enemy got smart, and began to employ countermeasures, forcing them in a close range dogfight. While faster than the Berkuts, the Raptors did not have the maneuverability the Berkuts did. Several of the Il-76 transports also manned their guns, and began to take shots at the Raptors, incurring additional losses. To Jenkins, this was unacceptable. He grabbed his intercom. "All forces are to power up and man the SICLOPs anti-air batteries. All Phalanx batteries are also to be powered up. We will reach contact in 5 minutes." Jenkins was smiling. He couldn't wait to try out these defenses on those Russians.

NICOSIA, CYPRUSMobs have now formed in the capital of Cyprus. They were all being rallied by a leader. Mass demonstrations have now taken place in the capital. The Cypriots is now under threat of either American or Russian occupation. Something alot of Cypriots don't want and think will take their liberty. The chaos is starting to build up inside the capital. The remnants of the Government of Cyprus have sent riot police to quell the crowds. The mobs' cries are very clear. "Cyprus for Cypriots!" "No occupation!" "We don't want Russians nor Americans!" The mobs are getting more chaotic and started throwing rocks and harassing the riot police. The situation was getting more and more hectic then suddenly...
Molotovs were started to be thrown at the riot police. Gunshots were heard all around. The riot police quickly started deploying tear gas and using rubber bullets in desperation to control the crowds. The city was getting much more chaotic to the point of anarchy. The mobs are now fighting the remnants of the Government, setting fire to cars and police stations, looting establishments. Some were even heard screaming, "For the Cause!" While the city is now in chaos, the Russians and Americans have started fighting over the control of the capital.

Cyprus, Nicosia14:35
The VDV of Sokol Battalion that had stayed to secure Nicosia, half of the forces were being heavily engaged by the enemy, a few forward positions were getting hit hard and back at the International airport, Melnik was considering his options. He rose in his command vehicle and began talking to his troops over a comm link open to all his troops in Nicosia. "Today comrades, we test our steel with that of the USMC, we are the absolute elite of the Russian military, and the elite of the VDV, we do not cower!! We fight for the motherland and while this piece of land in the middle of nowhere doesn't seem like a worthy burial of the motherlands soldiers than I will simply tell you that it is indeed an important part of our motherland's overall security. Our intel suggests an entire Regiment, our forces had poked at a vanguard force earlier but the whole regiment has reached this pivotal city in our struggle over this rock in the sea. That means that I expect each of you to kill 7 of the bastards and only then will you have my permission to die in service to our ancient homeland, be brave comrades and fight with the heart of a bear and lethality of a Falcon, we are predators not prey!!" His soldiers gave a hearty "URAAAA!!" over the comm links startling everyone who heard it in the immediate vicinity of the platoons of VDV stationed around the city. Melnik bent over his battlefield monitor showing the life signs of 600 troops all operationally moving about the city, he knew he had other forces, a few national guard who were confused over the recent fighting and had thrown their lot in with the Russians and a growing citizen militia inside of nicosia but they wouldn't do much to dent the US forces, only act as distractions and unfortunate meat shields... Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, he had Volk battalion on stand by and heard that Kazakh and Armenian paratroopers were inbound from the East along with fresh armored reinforcements coming in from the west as well. He had to hold and await those forces and blunt the US attack into the city, he gave one last order to his troops, "They will not reach this airport, this is our vital link to the rest of our war machine, they are not to reach it any cost!" His soldiers gave their affirmative and for a minute all was quiet.Igor Bogatyr sipped his tea as he heard explosive shells go off in the distance, he had been sent over with a 10 man cell of SVR operatives to make use of the chaos to spread information warfare across Cyprus, the VDV had secured several broadcasting stations and he and his team had been carefully feeding the population information favorable to the Russian side and extremely unfavorable to the American side, it had mixed results but the information war had been tenacious and he had even began a Pro-Russian militia of civilians and cops. Once the GLA had started to truly make itself known and the fact that Russians had been actively defending the city, the civilians began to buy the Russian side of the story. He heard reports of Riot police loyal to the Russian forces had been engaging angry mobs... Hopefully they weren't the real thing and GLA wouldn't be a massive thorn in the side... He was far too old for this but not many were as talented in psy-ops. Melnik called them his 'special team' and special they were as they could win the public if given the time and tools.Western Coast of Cyprus
15:00
Ilya Radilov's heart was pounding in his chest, he had never thought he would be in real aerial combat, much less against USN Sea Raptors... He had seen one of his comrades get blown out of the sky along with 2 other confirmed losses but had managed to mark and destroy 2 of the raptors. The Il-76s had been able to kill a few with their tail mounted 36 mm gast autocannons and twin linked Igla-4MS systems when the raptors got a tad bit too close while liberally popping flares and flying in erratic patterns, despite that 2 had been destroyed and 1 was limping. The Berkuts split into 5 wolf packs and started co-ordinating their assaults, the raptors had use of PDLs and their rockets were intercepted, most still had about 3 left and the flight commanders came up with a strategy of firing 3 missiles from different relative positions using their superior super sonic maneuverability to get into the right arc of fire. Radilov quickly did a 9 g turn to his left as a raptor locked on his fighter and began to feel the blood flow out of his head, the radar began to violently light up and beep with the approach of a missile at 10 km, he punched his speed to mach 2 and activated his Goliath-AM system for the 3rd time, his HUD flashed 13 g's and he began to pass out, his suit quickly tightened and his lower legs were being constricted, the onboard system gave him a small dose of adrenaline and he began to feel the blood flowing back into his head. The missile flew not 2 m off his flank and he quickly buffeted down to mach 1.4 and did a Pugachev Cobra and spun his plane on its axis and he unloaded his twin linked 36 mm cannons at the raptor and did a spin to avoid the debris of the shot up plane and rocketed back to his formation. His flight commander radioed the formation, "2 targets, 60 km, circle and destroy with multi-vectored approach." his HUD lit up and his commander lit up the attack formation, the onboard limited AI trimmed his course and he prepared his R-242 missiles which would co-ordinate with the rest of his team's missiles to best approach the target. The raptor pilots quickly opened fire with their mini-guns but failed to get enough lead out due to the spin up time on their weapons and barely scratched the oncoming formation as they fired their missiles. The PDLs on the raptors intercepted a missile and their countermeasures tricked another but they took direct hits by the final missiles and went down, the battle looked like a frenzy of fish diving in and out and consuming each other, the raptors backed down and started flying away using slightly superior overall speed to try and get away but the Berkut pilots had a rude awakening as 3 went down in a flash to siclops fire. Ilya almost started to panic when his flight commander ordered them to retreat back to their escorts and fired his last 2 missiles at the carrier, the CIWS Phalanx's covering the recharging siclops shredded most of the missiles but a few hit their marks, not seriously damaging the structure but destroying their vulnerable lenses and focusing software on a couple of them as they made their escape, though 2 more were lost as they ran and the raptors simply landed on the safety of their mobile base. The prime lifter Il-76s changed course slightly out of range of the siclops and delayed their approach by a good 30 min as they began to skirt the island's north looking for an opening.Cyrpus, Nicosia
15:15Melnik had been having his men playing cat and mouse at the outskirts of the city for the past 40 minutes, the Marines would try to push, they would meet heavy concentrated fire at several angles, take some losses and try a different approach. It was frustrating in the extreme for both sides to be honest, a few A-10s had tried to attack and had managed to hit some targets but would strafe a house or hit a civilian car on accident and then meet igla-4MS fire and a few Tor-MDs near the airport as well, taking down a couple. The various AA positions in the country side had proven difficult to track down and only 1 had been hit, the rest were repositioning and waiting for the right moment to reveal themselves again. The marine force recon pathfinders were taking potshots but they would get counter attacked by snipers using Balalaika and Orsis rifles using PAPV-2M counter sniping systems destroying some of the pathfinder's optics. The tanks would get hit by RPG-30 fire and a couple ATGMs were also in play like the Hermes-P which would sometimes hit but the tight bradley reinforced formations kept too many losses from occuring, only a couple Paladin tanks would go down. Infantry got shredded by focused AShA and sniper fire and autocannon fire from BMDs who would then go and duck for cover when aerial retaliation was called in. It was basically a war of attrition at the moment and the Marines were getting frustrated as they got more aggressive. The VDV were hardly fazed when Melnik showed them the US ultimatum and simply grabbed their rifles to fight on.15 min later
Finally the VDV relented and allowed the Marines to breach the defensive barrier on the northern side of the city, they engaged in the open behind cover and continued to fall back into defilade allowing the Marines to get deeper into the city. The marines abandoned the other avenues seeing this breach as a chance and pounced on it, they moved in with no hesitation. The VDV finally stopped retreating and started to face the marines in a series of gun fights, the marines supported by Paladins, a few remaining acolyte tanks and Bradley opened fire on the Sprut-SDs, and BMDs. The marines would hit the VDV but they didn't even slow down as the marines realized their body armor could deflect a good deal of their small arms fire... A sergeant shouted to his men "Every marine a rifleman! Aim for their damn heads and kill the weasels!" The VDV continued to fire their 12.7 mm rounds into the enemy and dropped a good amount, as one of the soldiers jumped into a building, a round found his helmet and knocked him sideways into the frame and fall into the house. This particular soldier's name was corporal Bordov, he regained consciousness and felt his head thudding as he recalled when he won his blue beret at the end of his primary training, he was glad he was wearing a helmet even if he thought those berets were badass. He got up and looked out the window and saw a Bradley pushing forward with marines huddled behind, he chucked a grenade and saw the marines scatter with one kicking it at the building "CRAP!" he ran for the staircase and dived at the foot as the thermobaric grenade exploded, he felt his face heat up to a million degrees as he huddled in the corner trying to regain his breath. He used his rifle scope to look out the window and saw the bradley get hit by an RPG-30 and stop moving, the marines began to fire and toss grenades at a small concrete wall in front of them while another launched a Javelin missile at a nearby supporting BMD just as a grenade hit the center of them. He looked down at his tablet and 2 of his platoon members life signs disappeared, he cursed and opened fire with his rifle catching a few of the surviving marine and getting out of the back of the building to reconnect with his platoon.
Further west, 2 kodiak tanks opened fire on advancing Paladin tanks with their ATGMs, they were intercepted so the Kodiaks quickly switched load-outs and fired APFSDS thermo-lance rounds at the Paladins and saw as they went up in flames, they fired smoke and started moving back as acolyte tanks flanked from a large alley and knocked out one's treads... How unlucky, it spun its turret around and fired a couple rounds quickly and destroyed them as their rounds bounced off its armor or was intercepted by inlaid Relikt ERA plates. The crew got out and tossed a couple RGN-129 grenades into the crew cabin and got on top of the other kodiak as they moved away. The marines cleared the paladins and went in with bradleys, they got slammed with RPG fire and grenade fire destroying several while snipers in a building shot down and killed several supporting marines. The US advance was a grizzly affair and the VDV while taking a good deal of their own casaulties, were inflicting serious damage and using maneuverability and co-ordinating attacks with their command and control system to stay on top of the threats. This was deep strategy tactics and the marines were starting to compare Nicosia to a miniature Stalingrad. The BMDs let loose with mortar and low pressure 148 mm HE gun fire at approaching forces and pulling back before they could be taken out by retaliation, the light vehicles were proving to be devastating. Sprut-SDs were easily destroying acolyte tanks and popped smoke while retreating when encountering Paladins. Finally B-1 Lancers were called in to carpet bomb a believed heavily packed formation of resistance... Luckily most of the city had been evacuated in the area, the B-1 Lancers immediately popped onto the Tor-MD radars in the countryside and confirmed with Melnik, he gave the OK to fire and move, 3 B-1 Lancers soared at super sonic speed and quickly fired off flares when the Tor's fired at them, however 2 of them were hit and crashed and the 3rd was glanced, Melnik grimaced, that would still hurt quite a bit. His forces were relayed the information at lightning speeds and quickly started to move away, the B-1 Lancer dropped its bombs and still killed 2 platoons with all their armored support but was quickly re-acquired by Tor missile systems at the airport and was swatted from the sky. The marines took advantage and filled the gap but they then took a good deal of HE fire from BMDs and BMPs in the distance wiping a good deal out. The battle was intense and the marines had a hard time consolidating ground, they needed a trump card to break the Russian forces.Western Cyprus Coast 15:50
The Greeks with the sanction of the Balkan Federation had authorized a defensive operation against the US in a brash move to support both their geo-political ally and as a show of consolidation with their Cypriot compatriots. They had brought the cream of their navy, which even boasted an extremely advanced sub-system yet unknown to western intelligence though not many had it and the Greek navy was made up of mostly cruiser sized missile ships, they came within 80 km of the US task force fleet, the US fleet had been trying to hail them for the last 2 hours but the Greeks didn't particularly care, the US fleet scrambled Hunter-Killers to intercept the fleet. The greek fleet opened fire on the Hunter-Killers while they took the loss of a frigate, the Hunter-Killers had been forced off and they began to rise their missile launch systems to fire on the US fleet. They fired a volley of low flying super-sonic cruise missiles and the US fleet took several ship losses as their phalanx systems tried to intercept, the US hadn't installed siclops to intercept low flying cruise missiles. The fleet was led by Alexandros Poulopoulos who ordered the fleet to keep firing at the US Ships, the US Navy was stunned to say the least, they didn't think the Greeks of all the naval powers would ever try to even attempt to attack a US task force. Alexandros while drinking coffee gave an order to his comm officer, "Have the Kazakh Backfires on alert, I want some heavy air support in this mission and get me a line to the Crete Iskandr-M2 balistic missile systems. Also tell the submarine detachment to keep its distance for now... They'll be needed for later." The officer simply replied in the affirmative. Alexandros was shaking in both elation and fear, he managed to destroy 3 US ships at the cost of one of his frigates... Would he survive the day? Despite himself he grinned, this was going to be an accolade of the ages, even the Russian navy would have a tough time with this obstacle.

15:30 Cyprus General Brown's Mobile HQThis hasn't been an easy conflict. While the US has had many victories, the Russians were highly fortified within the capital city. In addition, he had gained word that some Berkuts attempted to break into the country from the West. While they were unsuccessful, they managed to down several raptors. He was beginning to start a message to the President to request additional support, but then a message came through from him. He brought it on screen. The president's face came up, but something was wrong. He looked sad and desperate. "General, while you were fighting in Cyprus.. something happened. A nuclear strike has devastated the Vatican City in Rome, and the Kaaba in Mecca." Brown was horrified at these events, and his face clearly showed it. "You are the closest general to the affected areas. I need you to handle evacuation. General Markus Kane of the CEF should be arriving to help and begin cleanup, but he will not arrive for a while." Brown saluted, and gave the order to retreat and evacuate.
15:40 Cyprus Outside Nicosia
Colonel Lance knew he was in a troubled situation. The Russians had them pinned down outside of the capital. Just then, he got a radio message from the General. "Colonel, we need to retreat. Something happened in Italy, and we need to be there." Lance was panicked. "We can't retreat General, we are pinned down near Nicosia." "Understood, mark AA targets on your map, and prepare to move to Starlifter and Osprey transports." Lance complied, and marked the location of the Tor batteries. He wasn't just about to sit here however, so he ordered his team to bring out LAWs and prepare to fight if they got too close. They never got the chance however, as they quickly heard and felt a boom. Carefully, the Colonel looked out, and saw several Supersonic bombers had just dropped their bombs and were retreating. Using the momentary distraction of the Russians and the destruction of the TOR batteries, several Hunter-Seekers began to destroy tanks. Reinforcements were incoming, but they wouldn't get the chance to be useful. Starlifter and Osprey transports arrived, and Lance ordered everyone into the transports. Some of the tanks had to be abandoned, but the tank crews managed to pack C4 in such a way as to destroy sensitive and classified equipment, such as the point-defense lasers, to prevent Russian reverse-engineering. After 10 minutes of suppression, and the imminent arrival of reinforcements, the Marines successfully loaded the transports, and began their retreat. NOTE: USA has mostly pulled out, this is between the GLA and Russia now. The USA now only has a small outpost at the beachhead, and a few defences.
