USERNAME: Serialkillerwhale.
ROLEPLAYING NAME: Markus Oswald Kane Yes, General Mark o' Kane I was gonna go with Marco F. Kane, but that was too bad a pun even for me
FACTION TO JOIN: US/NAU
REASON TO JOIN: Bored, interested
Rank: General class Eh Eh Eh
Base of Operations: CFB Chilliwack, British Columbia BEST COLUMBIA
Tactics: Field Engineering Lumberjacking
General Markus "Grinder" Kane of the 3rd Division, Canadian Army, pushed his way up partially on the coattails of his political allies in Ottawa, and the rest of the way by his repeated successes in the field, most notably for his role in evacuation efforts Northern Kazakhstan, where he had barely any time to set up a defensive perimeter and funnel hundreds of weary, wounded soldiers through to aid and repaired their vehicles, and at the same time, eliminate any GLA forces that made it through the killbox. While kept on a short leash by the relatively left-leaning Anne Hamilton, who saw the at times aggressively ruthless general as a PR liability, and one that had both the Reputation within and without the military for his successful organization of the Canadian retreat from the Global War on Terror, minimizing loss of men and materiel made it increasingly difficult to demote him quietly, and poitical savvy to turn any act against him into gross abuse of power to reinforce her control over the military at the cost of the men and women in uniform that actually fought for it.
With the rise of Markus's friend and fellow benefactee of the same military-industrial base, Aaron Williams, to the seat of PM, Markus quickly sent signals to greenlight the a series of new acquisitions "Finished with the aid of the Aaron Administration (Named so to reduce the confusion have having two heads of state that answer to the name William)" that had been kept under wraps to sabotage Anne Hamilton's chances at reelection, and later genuinely new programs such as his own brainchild, the awe-inspiring Guardian Command Tank, which has become a mainstay of Canadian forces, and the first Canadian military export to the US.
General Kane is a heavily patriotic Canadian with a vindictive streak, who takes any losses men under his command personally. He's brutally uncompromising in his approach to warfare, preferring a slow, steady, methodological advance that leaves no openings to exploit while viciously striking at any openings his foes reveal under the constant pressure with airborne firepower.
I'm trying to go for a more pragmatic approach to the backstory, in which outright bullshiting the public and political skullduggery heavily factor into his rise, as opposed to simply being a really good commander that got promoted. If having him handle the boring job in a official canon mission is a bit much, I'll remove it. On a related note, who found the second C&C reference?
