A shady tanker was floating the East African seas.
"We should be ready for now" said Graion, looking in front of a refurbished cluster. Hundreds of customized computer parts were reformed into something bigger, something newer... the Faust cluster was ready to operate.
"Test results seem okay, the overall performance is three times more than the Requiem, sir."
"Good, then I think it's time to pay the bills. Activate the core, empower this thing. We only have around " Graion looked at his watch " 31 minutes from now on or we miss today's opportunity."
"Yes, leader."
"Oh, and prepare Flight of the Valkyries. We can afford doing it in style - so we'll do it in style!"
As the ship started to power up itself, Graion looked at the Geiger-Müller trackers, which reported no radiation leaking for now. "It's amazing how stable this ship became all of a sudden - and all just because we raised the interest of the right people" thought Graion to himself.
As the supercomputer started to power itself to full efficiency, the operators also took their position. Graion had already decided he'll supervise this operation, since all his subordinates were the ones who operated Requiem before - and survived that incident.
Besides, he even had guests along with him. Both Ahmad and that new guy, the Infector accepted his invitation to see this event by their own eyes... the event which will put the ECA to utter misery.
"The route is stable, Captain, but..." said an operator. "It appears they upgraded their defenses. I can't find any vulnerability to get past the firewalls this time."
"What do you mean?" Graion raised an eyebrow. "We only have 25 minutes and we can't even get past on the first obstacle?!"
"Sorry to say, but yes, their firewall blocks all our efforts. We could try bruteforcing it, but that'll take time."
Ahmad blinked twice, it was too much information to him, but Omar nodded. "Yes, they took cyber defense serious after you knocked it out last time. On the other hand, I brought some stuff alongside. If you can abuse this data to your own gain, you can skip bruteforcing. Let me into a console."
Graion waved and Omar sat down in front of a terminal. "I assume you guessed you only need to enter into the system and then you'll do fine, eh? Not this time, though. See the setup completely."
"Sir, the bird is ours!" reported another operator. "They're at autopilot as we expected and we're already controlling the navigation systems. They're en route to the designated point now."
"Good to know, that worked well..." Graion looked at the main screen, which shown some complicated diagrams with obfuscated layers of protection. He sat at the front of another terminal.
"Looks like there went the chance that I'll just supervise this... we still have 20 minutes and with enough automation to pass the layers... we still can get right. All I need is to circumvent some here..." Graion started to mumble to himself, as his own cyber-bubble slipped him in.
Omar's console started to run down many programs, shaping new data, and he saw virtualization copies generated by his Solaris database getting crashed within seconds. He looked at Graion, and had to acknowledge that it wasn't mere luck when he could get in last time either.
"There's only 3 minutes remaining, boss, we can delay it by 4 more minutes, but nothing more!", shouted an operator.
"No need" Graion finished another simulation. "If Omar's data is just 75% valid, we can still make it directly by now. Infector, we're ready, time to infect the Solaris."
Omar pressed the Enter button at his terminal. "Then be my guest", he replied as a "Welcome back, General." EVA response flooded the terminals.
"Sir, we have some administrator rights to infect some drives, we're locked from most of the systems, but it appears we have every right we would need to proceed from this point onwards. We're getting scanned, but it only sees us having the properties of a new expensive Dell laptop, including motherboard visualization. Omar's data all are appropriate."
"Hmm. Thanks. Seems I underestimated their capabilities to learn" nodded Graion. "Without you, Infector, this would probably have taken either more time that we expected, or a complete failure with my systems getting exposed for a counterattack. And it would even be a kamikaze to do that with ye olde Requiem to be honest. Alright, people, get one defense satellite above Wien, so it won't be that blatant. Also check what we can do with the one powering Germany. And start Flight of the Valkyries."
"We can't control the boosters of that satellite, sir, but we can mess the energy flow."
"Can we insert a spike into it?"
"What are you planning?" Omar couldn't follow Graion's plan at that point.
"I'm planning to raise the civilians against the Solaris. What would annoy you more, a blackout, or the power grid frying your electronics? Also I like the smell of blown-up transformers in the morning, so to say..."
"We're uploading a worm to get the malfunction at the German satellite going... Sir! We can reach the boosters of a really minor satellite above Scotland. It looks like that's one of the oldest satellites in the grid, without a proper defense due to being old and service time is passing down in '47. It was probably even among the prototypes."
"Then prepare to start up a booster rocket while it still keeps up the flow. How much time do we have until the bird passes the destination point?"
"49 seconds, sir, but we're ready."
"Trigger a countdown; I want all being done at the same second."
"Countdown initialized."
As the numbers flown upon the screens, Graion, Omar and Ahmad looked at each other, with a smile. "We're gonna do it."
The countdown passed. The logs stated it all happened. And the contact with the bird lost.
"Archive a copy of the logs to our friends. Fry the intermittent satellites as always. Start the depowering of the system and the power plant. And get the champagne out of the freezer." gave Graion the final orders for that operation. "I hope you two don't mind a champagne from Hungary, year 2023. I think it was among the better years."

This is Greg Burdette for WWN. From today's headlines.
The Hungarian village of Iszkaszentgyörgy was terminated by a Solaris strike, which apparently targeted the British Airways Flight 679 between Istanbul and London. The plane simply disintegrated in the strike, all passengers died immediately. There are no reports so far about how many people died in the village.
The ECA headquarters so far stated nothing about the event.

Guten Abend, this is Lauren Dünnwald bringing the news to Pro7. From today:
A major accident at the Frankfurt Solar Reactor caused the power grid mostly between Bonn and Mannheim to overload, disrupting fires around the area. Many electronic devices fried in the surge. The German insurance companies are naming it as an emergency, pledging for the German Parliament to open up funds to support the insurances. There's still reports of property damages coming in, the estimations put the direct damage around 20-30 million euros at the moment, with at least 16 people dying in the fire in their houses.

Good evening. This is Peter Thurso, from BBC Scotland.
A malfunction at the Solaris satellite powering the Iberdeen Experimental Solar Reactor caused heavy property damages, when the power beam derailed and cut through everything in a line passing 3 miles. Our experts at the Galloway Astronomy Centre speculated the cause being a booster rocket activating itself, changing the orbit of satellite. However, there has been no actual reports confirming the speculation. Fortunately, no humans were damaged, but a warehouse and half of the reactor got burnt down.
