So I heard Nagand's going to be writing the combat rules and what not, thats awsome
However I have some ideas for smaller more limited engagements that could be using the platform D20, which is basically pen paper and table style Dungeons and dragons playing.
So how will this work? Well its easy for you guys!
For me I'll be the "Dungeon master" or in this case the guy who plays for the NPC's and sets up everything.Do keep in mind im fairly new even if I tried this before.
You guys will be the players, bringing a set amount of units with stats that'll be determined.
For now I'll just mention how I tend to set limitations.
Right now the idea is that I'll give a point cap according to the scenario
The first iteration will be:
Each units 10% cost will be its cost in points
Each scenario will Have a point limit
So for example a troop crawler is 800 In game so it'll cost 80 points
Upgrades to Improve your units stats will be 10% of the upgrade cost base line and 5% for each unit
So the 80 troop crawler will also have a bonus of 15 points for the troop crawler scanners/armor/prop upgrade (The first units upgrade is included)
Every troop crawler you field after this will cost 85 points, two fully upgraded ones will cost 200 points and 285 points respectively.
However the In RP I will be trying to be fair to each unit while not exactly copying in game stats
Abilities will have RNG to them, with each units action having a dice role (Movement doesn't need dice rolls)
So this troop crawler with a scanner can try to scan a position but roll a low score and the thing can malfunction or overshoot/undershoot
It wont be entirely decided on rng but it isn't based all around numbers, cover and movement, fog of war will all be interactive elements
I have a few scenarios in mind
These would be:
-A hostage situation, generally small with limited vehicles, Imagine it being more like Hotline Miami (300 points)
-A marauder clan or GLA uprising (I'll be playing the GLA here) trying to take or destroy a key Infrastructural asset, (650 points)
-A UN convoy mission (guided by me) and also raided by the GLA (by me) This would be the biggest scenario in mind (1000 points)
Things to note: Unique units wont be allowed for only the first time.Nor will general powers that are call ins, however you can utilize support powers or transportation that doesn't effect the other (NPC/my) units
Such as a spy planes or veteran company or drop off/parachuting on any location
For now I'll only ask two things from you:
Which faction you'd like to join with
What time zone you prefer
Which scenario you wish to play
Thank you and hope to see you soon generals!
