Archibald and his European Chief Of Staff, René Billotte, had left the U.N Summit to take a private phone call. After finding a private room, the pair sat down and put the phone on speaker. "Sir." A German voice began on the other side of the connection. "The forces you requested have been redeployed. They await your order to instigate Aries." After a brief moment of gazing at each other, the pair of generals silently communicating, Billotte nodded. Upon receiving the gesture, Archibald cleared his throat. "General Blomberg, you are to begin operations immediately. Operation Aries is to launch without further delay." "Yes, sir!" Blomberg replied before hanging up. "Do you think the Russians will approve?" Billotte mused. "They seem rather adamant that they will enact their plan of scorched earth." "Probably not, René." Archie stated while pocketing the phone. "But, I doubt that they'll be able to enact their policy when there are proper soldiers that could be caught in the crossfire. Let's not keep the summit waiting."
Salak:
Batangafo:((Naturally, I expect complete honesty from the GLA in this campaign. If they have no forces in the area, then I expect them to admit as such, just as I would do so if they found an area I'd neglected to place forces.)) "Three kings. Beat that, mate." A British tank commander of The Royal Lancers bragged as he laid his poker hand out on an oil drum. He and a number of other soldiers from the British Army and European Continental Army were using it as a surface to play poker in the boiling sun of Chad. They had been preparing for months and waiting for days for the actual order to cross the border into the former nations of Cameroon and The Central African Republic, now part of what was known simply as The Zone. A French rifleman smirked as he placed his cards as a neat pile and then placed his finger on the top card and slid it off, revealing each card in his hand one by one. "Flush, Diamonds." He stated in his thick accent, causing his opponent to tut in exasperation. "Alright, Henri." He grunts angrily. "This time, I'll do the shuffling." However, the next round never started as the radio of the commander's Challenger 2 crackled into life. "All units, this is Command." The radio set stated. "Operation Aries has been green lit. I say again, Operation Aries has been green lit. Out." After hearing those words, everyone swiftly abandoned the card game and dispersed to their respective starting positions. The cards that had been left on the drum blew away, carried on the harsh African winds as the sound of tank and IFV engines roared into life. The invasion of The Zone had begun, with their first targets being the cities of Salak, Cameroon and Batangafo, Central African Republic. Eight divisions, divided into two corps, drove across the border to seize them and their local airports.

Kurmuk Research & Development FacilityNovember 30th, 20451537 Hours"—i mayor Krupin skazal mne, chto AEDP ne osmelitsya napast' na GLA. [—and Major Krupin told me that the AEDP won't dare attack the GLA.]" a Russian soldier stated to his friend as he took a puff of a cigarette. On the outskirts of Kurmuk, the Russian forces stationed there weren't all too concerned as of late, even with news of a massive European advanced into GLA territory. In all honesty, most of the Russian forces weren't even aware when it happened, considering it was so incredibly sudden. "No chto, yesli oni rasshiryayut svoye gospodstvo nad rayonom, tozhe? Eto to, chto ne sleduyet upuskat' iz vidu, vidya, kak Archibal'd i yego tovarishchi bandity, pereodetyye v kachestve soldat. [But what if they expand their domination over the area, too? This is something that should not be overlooked, seeing as Archibald and his comrades are thugs disguised as soldiers.]" The man, as he was taking a whiff, began coughing as he tried to laugh. After regaining control over his senses, he looked to his partner as they walked their patrol route around the perimeter. "Archibal'd ne mozhet. AEDP ne pozvoleno sdelat' eto. [Archibald can't. The AEDP isn't allowed to do so.]" "A kak by vy znayete? [And how would you know?]" "YA delayu svoye issledovaniye. (I do my research.)" Before another word could be spoken among them, they heard the sounds of alarms going off. Immediately, the two soldiers, along with many others, went from relaxed to combat ready. Many looked around to see no threat in sight, but previously dormant weapons systems activate and begin scanning the areas around the perimeter. However, a loud rumble was heard as the facility's crowning achievement, the Tremor AGAS, was emerging from its housing. "Vse yedinitsy, eto komanda! Rezhim ozhidaniya dlya vozmozhnykh yevropeyskikh voyennykh deystviy, boleye! [All units, this is command! Standby for possible European hostilities, over!]" "Ponyal komanda! [Understood command!]" the soldiers all stated at one point or another. Eventually, the entire facility was on a defensive protocol, and the Tremor AGAS being aimed towards the location of European troops to prepare for any possible combat scenario.

Salak: ((P.S. I'll Be honest, don't worry... I'll make sure that some cities are made open. Batangafoo has no defenders feel free to take it.)) A division of forces mostly GLA standard issue rebels, waited in the hot sun in the c ity of Salak. Caught unaware of the European menace they decided to stay calm, some even went swimming. As always it was quiet in the Zone, almost too quiet... The GLA had little to no plans as Abdul has been staying in his bunker for quite a long time. The GLA was for sure going to be sandwiched between two superpowers, much like Poland in 1939... Coincidental it seems.
As a group of Rebels were drinking their stolen water from the locals they striked a conversation
"Hey have you heard about the rumor?" An Arabian rebel asked them.
"About what?" A GLA soldier asked back.
"That rumor where Russian and European forces are currently in the zone... I heard it from my friend." He replied.
"Ha! are you sure? That will never happen... Demo Traps will be on their way, besides if they are we'll be--" Their conversation was caught short when a soldier shouted: "TANKS, WE'VE GOT TANKS!"
The soldiers left the area and quickly went to where the soldier said, surely they were greeted with a warm welcome from the AEDP's forces. Making sure they don't get seen, they hide in the buildings of the outskirts, ready to strike.
However their plans of an ambush failed as the GLA soldier from earlier who was doubtful about an attack, came running down the street shouting: "Don't Shoot, Don't Shoot!"
"I Surrender, no more violence... This is very messed up... Brothers against brothers we are not made for this, Allah made us to love not to hate" He told the tanks on his front in a very broken accent.
"I may not live to see the world in peace, however, just let my family live if you kill me... Keep them safe." he shouted.
Seconds later shots were heard, not from the tanks' machine guns but from the Arabian rebel. Shooting his Ak-47, the poor GLA soldier lies dead on the ground. The group, from which shots were heard, approached the body with the Arabian putting his foot on the lifeless body, shouting: "WE, THE SOLDIERS OF FREEDOM AND OF THE GLA,WILL NOT LET YOU PASS! MY BROTHERS, THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU BETRAY US" shoving the body and pointing his vintage pistol in his head, a second later, he pulled the trigger.
Soon gunfire ringed the streets of Salak with bodies of the GLA's men falling on the ground soon after more than half of what was stationed there were dead the remaining men surrendered. Casualties: 12,000 x 0.60 = 7200 GLA soldiers dead or killed

((Thank you for the free town, sir. You didn't have to, but that's very kind of you. However, I assume that since this is only the beginning... It's going to be a long fight, eh? Also, since I'm sure you'll be surprised, if not outraged, by the dice roll below. I shall explain why it is what it is. As stated in my long winded ramble about the system we're using, having a numerical superiority in manpower and equipment means that you receive padding from the casualty die. You may read about it here.)) Casualties:3,073 out of 30,726 units neutralised. The fighting was fierce, but victory had been won with a blaze of glory. However, there were still casualties for The AEDP. A notable event was how a GLA Anarchist was able to score a direct hit on a group of advancing soldiers with a petrol bomb, setting them on fire. Regardless, the fighting had petered out and there was now the task of clearing up the mess that had been created through the battle of Salak. As Warhounds of The Royal Engineers drove in to begin bulldozing rubble away, soldiers of varying European nationalities patrolled the streets while Warrior IFV's scoured the streets for those that wished to surrender. While the town had stopped being privy to the sounds of warfare, a new sound was unleashed upon it, The sound of reason. Numerous Warriors had loudspeakers jury-rigged to them and were playing a recorded message to any and all who were able to hear it. Some were spoken in varying Middle Eastern languages, some African and some in English, but the message was the same. "This is a message to all who wish to surrender." It began. "Place your weapons on the floor and approach your nearest AEDP patrol slowly with your hands up. Comply with their orders and you will be treated with dignity." As the insurgents surrendered, they were methodically searched for any trace of explosives and hidden weapons by the patrols before being escorted to a myriad of lorries, APCs and other methods of transportation that took them to Salak Airfield. Around the airfield, numerous tents were being erected, along with fences, barbed wire and other fortifications and foundations for permanent buildings. This was to be their home for now. They were to clothed, fed and medically treated by AEDP personnel and members of The Red Cross, along with being questioned and detained.
Meanwhile, in Batangafo, the corps was able to enter the city without a fight. As they began to lock-down the city and begin the same construction effort, that had been started at Salak, at its local airport, they played a different message in a variety of languages for all to hear. "People, this is The Anglo-European Defence Pact. We are here to arrest any and all GLA insurgents. Anyone who wishes to surrender is to head outside into the streets with their hands up and approach their nearest patrol slowly. Comply with their orders and you will be treated with dignity." Whether anyone sympathetic or a member of The GLA would heed their request was up to them. However, the soldiers that were now patrolling the streets would not be leaving any time soon. They were the beginning of a new future for the inhabitants of The Zone. These soldiers were to be the first trace of civilised society that would eventually bring about stability to the abandoned region of the world by providing law and order.

Abdul, seeming to put down a phone was startled by a man quickly knocking his door. After looking at maps of Africa and the Zone he was thinking. Not aware of the AEDP's victory on the two cities, he was calm sipping his drink. "It's open, hurry up." Abdul shouted. The man, opening the door looking worried, caught Abdul unaware. "Warlord, the AEDP has entered the zone capturing two cities, Salak and Batangafo! Our brave men at Salak fought until more than half of their division was left. There was one story about one man betraying us." He quickly informed Abdul. "Send the Special Weapons to Salak, what about Batangafo?" Abdul asked with a menacing stare. "Warlord..." The man gulped. "Warlord, Batangafo was left open." He answered. Abdul chuckled, then quickly rose up to the man and said: "If I hear one more city captured I will kill you... Send a cell to Batangafo, NOW!" Scarred for life he quickly informed the GLA's Special Weapons temporary commander or some people like to call it the "Aljabarc" A combination of Lightning Army in Arabian because of the quick action against the Russian convoy in the zone and the closest Cell Warlord. Salak December 4, 2045 0900 hours
The GLA's forces had witnessed what the AEDP has got and the GLA shall not take this lightly. even though Salak and Batangafo had fallen, the GLA shall reclaim it.
Batangafo: Salak: ((OOC: We'll sure put up a fight! Not outraged btw, I was really expecting them to shoot tanks with their puny guns. Sorry, I almost left it switched))

((Sorry for the massive absence. I appreciate your understanding and accommodation for that absence, sir! Admittedly, it was partly because I don't want to lose those two locations, but I guess I've got to just deal with it.)) ((You'll notice that there's a 1d7 roll amongst the ones below. That was completely an accident.))
Batangafo:56% Casualties: 17,207 units out of 30,726 neutralised. Salak:95% Casualties: 26,270 units out of 27,653 neutralised. The counterattack was expected, but not in the ferocity that had been dumped onto the AEDP forces. The 2nd Battle Of Salak had fought itself to a stalemate, but the Corps there was spent. A once proud formation of over 30,000 men and the finest military equipment had been left as a pile of corpses and burnt out wrecks in the streets and surrounding areas around the city. Knowing that they would be unable to hold the city or the camp that was under construction, the Corps Commander had ordered the immediate evacuation of the camp. Scores of trucks from the ECA and Royal Logistics Corps of The British Army, filled with GLA prisoners of war and refugees, fled towards the border while the combat troops held the GLA horde at bay. Once the battle petered out, they too withdrew across the border. The situation was similar in Batangafo. While the slaughter wasn't as horrific as Salak, it was clear that The GLA were willing to fight as fanatically as Nazi Germany did in World War 2. Once again, the logistics personnel evacuated the POWs and refugees into Chad, while the combat troops fought a delaying action and then withdrew also. The AEDP gains in The Zone had been lost in less than a week.

"WE HAVE DEFEATED THEM!" A GLA soldier shouted. Casualties: Batangafo 200,000 x 0.65 = 130,000 GLA units killed, destroyed, injured or damaged. Salak 100,000 x .41 = 41,000 GLA units killed, destroyed, injured or damaged. The Fighting was fierce, because of the advanced training that the special forces was given, they quickly turned the table to their side after a long stalemate. Implying the old "Armour first, Infantry Second." tactic used by many nations before, they overran the camp, capturing what little was left behind. However a victory won't be won with no casualties, many died during the attack, almost too costly for the new corps. Things weren't so great for the GLA back in Batangafo, through fierce fighting and non-stop shooting, they acquired victory, well at least that what they thought. Some men almost lost their hope until a man shouted that they are retreating, returning their zeal, they stormed the camp and same with the special forces, they captured what little was left for them.

Kurmuk Research & Development Facility December 8th, 2045 0934 Hours Russian Machine Gunner on guard outside of Kurmuk, SudanThe past week had been stressful for the Kurmuk facility and its present formations. Not only was the Kurmuk PBAU (Advanced Grand Artillery System) on a near constant state of alert, ready to fire into targeted European and GLA militants, but the formations at the facility itself were ready to move out. However, with GRU keeping updates on activities in the Zone in real time, the command in the area had placed the facility on a lesser alert, watching as the AEDP forces retreated outside of the Zone's borders. "Vse yedinitsy, eto komanda! U nas yest' podtverzhdeniye Anglo-Yevro porazheniya! Derzhite sily v rezhime ozhidaniya, no PBAU eto abstragirovat'sya! (All units, this is Command! We have confirmation of Anglo-Euro defeat! Keep forces on standby, but the PBAU is to disengage!)" the command stated, leading the superweapon to disengage, its long turret sinking back into the depths of its silo. Despite this change, Russian forces remained on standby at the facility, prepared to either move into the Zone or defend their facility from GLA threats. Hope you still like drama First Objective: Deploy counterfeit information to the Russian Kurmuk research facility base Second Objective: Order the Tremor AGAS to attack a target of my wishes. Both objectives must be a success in order to ‘hack’ the Tremor and let it fire.

Deception and trickery
In the bowels of Sudan, it was clear that the Russians were still prepared for as conflict. While it was clear that the Russo-European relations were destabilizing, another threat was looming over the horizon, and it would start here. "Polkovnik! Neizvestnyy signal popytalsya bresh' cherez nashi brandmauery! (Colonel! An unknown signal has attempted a breach through our firewalls!)" one of the Russian cyber-protectors reported. Colonel Izotov looked to the man in surprise before making a quick order. "Trassirovka signal obratno k yego istochniku! Eto mozhet byt' GLK! (Trace the signal back to its source! This may be GLA!)" he ordered. Whether or not it was the GLA, the situation had to be reported back to the Ministry of Defense to deal with the situation.
"YA nadeyus', chto k Bogu, chto imenno eti angliyskiye ublyudki, (I hope to god that it was those British bastards.)" the Colonel stated, already typing up an email to the Ministry of Defense back in Moscow. Secretly, he was hoping that this would be the spark to ignite conflict between someone aside from terrorists.
