Underneath The Kremlin
A man in a white lab coat paced around a strange, almost alien machine shaped like a half circle while the chrome walls around him glistened in the light.
"And this is the device?" asked Voronov, with his hand on his chin, with all of his trusted staff members, including members of his cabinet and his inner circle of CSTO generals, such as Suvorov Sukhoi and Sergei Varennikov behind him in the large room. Even the SBP and the most experienced VDV were packed behind him, standing shoulder-to-shoulder to save space.
"Yes, Premier.. It has been worked on for several years and restored to it's presumed original state since we found it near Volgograd. For this mission, we have loaded hard drives with petabytes of technical data of what will be known in our destination as at least a half-a-century in the future... And now, it is time to use it." For a minute Voronov stared at the safeties holding him back from this gigantic undertaking.
"It is time, Fyodor. It is time." The man in white fiddled around with the device's control panel, lighting it up in rapidly-dissipating but colorful gasses and leaving a set of numbers on a dial: 1983 012 031.
"Strap in, fellas, because it's about to get wild." In many rows were sets of sturdy seats which many men and women got into and strapped themselves into.
A certain Boris Bikov was also there, one of the many heroes of the Russian Federation, who said an audible "Who is next?" alluding to his large kill list.. And also, there was Nikola Pasic, along with his special forces comrades who looked thrilled at the prospect to seemingly.. change history.
Once everyone was strapped in, the scientist in white pressed a button, which set off a 30 second alarm, during which he secured himself in a seat. To Voronov, the experience would become 'trippy', as time and space seemed to collapse around him, and his surroundings warped into highly contorted forms of themselves while he could hear a steady clicking noise in his head. A force was acting on him, but he could not tell how it was doing so. Finally. Everything around him seemed to just disappear and he was left floating in completely empty space for what seemed like ages...

The Kremlin, 1983, New Year's Eve
A swarm of heavily trained soldiers bursted out of the strange machine, bloodlessly storming the Kremlin which many senior communist officials were inside. They were arrested and the Soviet Army had no choice but to bow down to these strange armed men.. The world was shocked at this, especially when a never-before seen person proclaimed himself President of the Russian Federation, and secured the minor SSRs of the Soviet Union by force.
In a few weeks or so, Afghanistan was blitzed like the world had never seen in the modern age with powerful weapons, turning the ordinary Russian soldier into an indestructible legend. America scrambled to discover the source of their newest enemy, but alas, they could find no explanation as to why they were suddenly being eclipsed on the world stage while Afro-Eurasia fell to pro-Russian revolutionaries.
Russia had never had a better leader, history books would decide. Der Spiegel named Andrey Romanovich Voronov as the #1 person of the millennium.. The New York Times would rave about his life story. BBC would revere him and his close group of comrades that made a new life possible... Peace and order around the globe
