"Hello, I'm Jack Crawford here at the new Armstrong Space Center's official opening ceremony. The Canadian government has been keeping a tight lid on why we needed a new space center, but it seems today, they're about to show us, such as what that thing is".
And with that, the camera pulls back, revealing a series of diagonal spires, interspersed with rings, pointing upwards.
"Hang on, I think the show is starting"
Aaron Williams walks onto the stage.
"Just under a century before, mankind looked to the stars and made to reach them, and our world was forever changed. Today, It is my great honor to anounce that we intend to change the world yet again."
And with that, he gestured to the strange construct behind him
"What you see before you, is a fully functional orbital railgun. it can launch entire satellites into orbit all by itself, and at a fraction of the cost of the old rocket systems, although you rocket scientists can rest easy, a railgun isn't quite smooth enough to be safe for human use, and if we intend to go beyond the moon, or indeed, to the moon, we still need rockets after we leave orbit, now are there any questions?"
"Mr Williams, why does this device need it's own space center? Isn't there already one down in houston?"
"A security measure, The Hudson Bay is the single safest spot for any landings, and given the state of the world, it'd be best if we had such cosy landing spot for any future astronauts."
"Don't the ECA already have railguns used in this manner?"
"It's a difference of scale. Our new Prometheus Rail has over ten times the throw weight of those used by the European space Programme, and can launch entire satelites completely into high orbit, as opposed to simply sending fuel tanks for already aloft satelites, we even have some of those in Goddard, and in Johnson, as well as one here. It's behind the big one."
(OOC: If anyone has a question, try to RP it as a reporter)
